Kate Gosselin's Today Interview: Cries, Explains Wearing Wedding Ring (VIDEO)

NEW YORK — Kate Gosselin said her marriage to Jon would have failed whether it played out in the glare of a TV reality show or not.

"Was (divorce) a product of the show? I feel like it would have happened anyway – cameras on or cameras off," she said.

Appearing on NBC's "Today" Monday, Kate Gosselin discussed her separation from her husband, which was announced in June on their TLC network reality show, "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

Despite their separation, both parents continue with the hit show, which documents the challenges of raising twins and sextuplets.

"In everybody's life, you make sacrifices," Gosselin said, referring to her staying with the show. "Everybody has to work. Everybody has a job. Ours is a very unique job. ...

"I still feel like this is a good thing. It's healthy. And the kids would agree."

Gosselin told "Today" host Meredith Vieira that she still wears her wedding ring for the sake of her eight children, but feels a lot of failure that the marriage is over.

"This is not what any mother sets out for, for her children," Gosselin said, adding, "It's necessary. It has to take place."

She greeted inquiries from Vieira about Jon Gosselin's alleged cheating during their marriage with a mix of vagueness and diplomacy, and said she couldn't recall exactly when he moved out of their Pennsylvania house.

"I think it's very clear that we are two different people at this point, with two different sets of goals," she summed up.

She repeated her past denial of media reports that she had an affair with a bodyguard assigned to protect her for the show.

"There is no affair. There has never been an affair," declared Gosselin. "It's just another crazy rumor. It sells tabloids."

I believe the tears are real. One day she will get a REAL MAN. And be so thankful she doesn't have to raise that 9th one anymore. At least she is not out "slutting it up" like Little Jon. He is trying to translate being family man to international stud. In a year or so we will be seeing shots of Jon rummaging through dumpsters with a bag lady girlfriend and see Kate with a strapping (tall) considerate, mature and intelligent man. Girl you are blessed to be rid of this cancer. There is such a thing as perfect justice in this life. Kate you will get the last laugh and we will be laughing with you.

Another couple out there, exploiting their children and personal dirt for money. Jon Gosselin is certainly nothing to look at, and Hailey Glassman is not either. I would not want my kids exposed to a complete party girl either!!!!! This is starting to get out of hand in the media like the Octomom. Hope their show crashes! Who cares what woman Jon is out with this week, hopefully his bad habits will hurt his custody. Very sad!!! Cmon there has to be better things out their to report about.

She is SO BORING. Why is she even ON The Today Show? Was every other living thing in the universe already booked on another show this morning? Everything this woman says and does is so rehearsed - she's so aware of herself - about how she's sitting, that weird slice of hair going down the side of her face. And, she is second only to SARAH PALIN as far as how she tries to sidestep reality with her banal rhetoric. This is so painful to watch!

Please folks, these kids are nothing more than the modern equivalent of the Dionne Quintuplets: with every moment videotaped for the cameras and shown pretty 24/7 every where. The show went from being fairly sweet to this train wreck because the parents seem to be greedy. This smoke screen is keep the ratings up and to keep MSM from asking about Child Exploitation.

CHILD EXPLOITATION is what this show is - the parents claim to be "working" when they film - but the kids aren't? I call BS on that.... the kids are the draw for these two grifters - and do some research and you will see that they have been begging for $$$ since the first sonogram.

Did they really NEED a 1.1 MILLION mansion? $1,600/day bodyguard for the wife? Will these poor kids ever see a PENNY of the money their childhood's earned? Not to mention, if we're seeing the birth mother on every magazine and news show or out signing autographs, and the birth father is out drinking - who IS REALLY PARENTING THOSE KIDS? Paid help. Sad, sad, sad.

ALL CHILDREN IN ENTERTAINMENT - whether scripted or not - need the SAME compensations across the board in all 50 states - as California enacted, along with a new version of "Coogan's Law" to protect their earnings.

When my husband and I separated, I kept both rings in a safe place. When we worked out our difficulties, we put them back on. And THAT, dear Kate, is how you show respect to your children.
