Andy Kessler, legendary skateboarder and original member of the Zoo York skate crew, has died, according to multiple reports.

Andy was great guy, just hooked up my teenage son and his friend with brand new SMA skateboards, because he liked their style. Montauk is a tough place to become accepted, Andy had carte blanche from day one. He will be missed. memorial paddle out at ditch plains this friday at 7:00pm. PEACE

I'm really bummed!

I worked with Andy occasionally at a museum uptown. Super sweet, humble and funny guy!

He talked a lot about parking his minibus (truck?) in Montauk and spending the summer surfing. Good to know he was doing what he loved!

WOW, what a loss. 2009 seems to be the year that icons died. From News, to music, to small screen and big screen, Sports and now skate. Very sad.

The guy was incredible, and for all the cliches about living everyday like its your last, the truth is this was one of those guys that did. He was the guardian angel of NY skateboarding and after busting his knees well into his 40s and continuing to skate and surf, he was a total inspiration to me and quite a few other grouchy old skaters. Oh man, what a loss.

Immediately after being stung. I felt a tingling in my hands and lips, took 4 benadryl
and withing 5 mins my hands were swollen to twice their size and my lips, I looked
like fat Albert. Rash over my entire torso and arms. Within 15mins I was at my doctor
office for a shot. . My throat closed very slightly, this could be because prednisone is
a medication I take daily for lupus. I now carry an EpiPen.

Very sad story, RIP and my sympathy to this young man's family.

My co-workers brother in law was working on a house and got stung on the neck. He dropped dead on the front lawn, leaving a wife and 2 little kids whom my co-worker had to tell that their daddy was not coming home again...ev­er. There needs to be a simple way to determine if you have potentially fatal allergies. At least that way you could be armed with an antidote. Tragic.
