Kyra Sedgwick Gets Madoff Revenge Onscreen (WATCH)

Kyra Sedgwick, who is nominated for an Emmy for The Closer for the fourth time, visited The Tonight Show Monday night. She and her husband Kevin Bacon lost a lot of money in the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme, and Conan noted that in The Closer this year, a character very much like Bernie Madoff got killed.

"Did you write the episode?" he asked.

"It was a brutal, messy, messy murder, cut off legs. It was really bad," Kyra said. "No, I did not write the episode and in fact I'm such a dumb blonde sometimes I was like, 'I wonder if this has anything to do...' so it took me a little while."

And that's not the only personal misfortune she has had to relive onscreen.

"Sometimes my creator has a wicked sense of humor because right after that episode Brenda's cat starts to go down the tubes and my cat had just died," she said. "This is funny, right?"

When a thief steals from others, it's a crime whether or not the victim is a celebrity or not. I bet many

celebs don't handle their financial matters directly. They probably have financial advisors or firms to

handle such things. It seems that so many people hate on celebrities just because they are celebs.

I don't get it. The are in the entertainment industry. You either like their work or not. What has

anything else have to do with it. I don't resent them because they "still have a job." What a ludicrous

statement.

Kyra Sedgwick is a total joy. She's been so much fun to watch in the years before THE CLOSER, and she's continuously entertaining in that show, too.

She and her husband haven't been any more negligible in their investments than millions and millions of other people who have lost money in any number of legal investing ventures.

At my house we are going to have a real dilemma come EMMY night - Sedgwck has created such a wonderful character in Brenda Johnson, and so has Holly Hunter as Grace DeNarco (sp?) on SAVING GRACE. Two strong, intelligent female characters who with great writers who lead these two women down totally different paths to the same outcome - getting the bad guys.

For all the useless, stupid reality shows - TV is still putting out many, many well-written shows.

I have ZERO sympathy for people who 'invested' with Madoff. These 'investors' wanted to cheat the system and get 12% returns every year, just because they think they deserve it. Bottom line: There's no money from nothing...unless you've rigged the entire system and are Goldman Sachs.

Kyra Sedgwick is Ben Heller's stepdaughter; she and her husband who are clearly hard working professionals are very likely officially 'naive investors.' That is, they are not qualified to make their own stock market investment decisions and probably didn't.

Ben Heller is a real estate tycoon and a primary art dealer in Mark Rothko paintings since the 1960s. Ben Heller is connected to Bernie Madoff's fund through his connection with J. Ezra Merkin, the art collector and beneficiary of Madoff through his Madoff feeder fund operation.

Merkin turned to Ben Heller to sell his paintings when his Madoff connection turned belly up.

Huh? Kyra Sedgwick's biological father is Henry Dwight Sedgwick V, a venture capitalist. This is one of the richest families in the US. Kyra could not be a "naive investor" unless she chose to bury her head in the sand since birth, and never learned anything about the vast wealth that was all around her, and which she stands to inherit. Do your homework.

Actually one of the Madoff victim who invested his charity money was ordering tax write offs from Madoff and withdrew more money then he put in. This Madoff victim knew exactly what he was doing and he was placing tax evasion orders from Madoff.
