The 1990s saw the rise and fall of the virulently antigovernment "Patriot" movement, made up of paramilitary militias, tax defiers and so-called "sovereign citizens." Sparked by a combination of anger at the federal government and the deaths of political dissenters at Ruby Ridge, Idaho, and Waco, Texas, the movement took off in the middle of the decade and continued to grow even after 168 people were left dead by the 1995 bombing of Oklahoma City's federal building -- an attack, the deadliest ever by domestic U.S. terrorists, carried out by men steeped in the rhetoric and conspiracy theories of the militias. In the years that followed, a truly remarkable number of criminal plots came out of the movement. But by early this century, the Patriots had largely faded, weakened by systematic prosecutions, aversion to growing violence, and a new, highly conservative president.

The patriot movement is not about race, although the corporate MSM sure wants you to think that. Its about a government that continues to impede on our rights while shilling for the corporations (think banker bailout). Obama is a continuation of the Bush regime with different rhetoric. He has continued Bush's policies on: warantless wiretapping, extraordinariy rendition, concealing torture, signing statements, indefinite suspension, military tribunals, refusing to reveal WH visitors, inducing the "state secrets" privilege, not allowing enough time for bills to be read, the banker bailout, hiring Goldman Sachs crooks, the war surge etc. He also refuses to prosecute any of the previous regime even as they ignore subpoenas and laugh in our face.

Being a middle aged working class white man...my life experience has been that of being exploited by large multi-national corperations and never by any minorities. Working people of this country have a vested interest in public option and a single payer health plan and the insurance companies have a vested interest in defeating it...working Americans come in all colors, creeds, genders, and religions please think of the well being of yourself, children, neighbors, co-workers, and fellow country men/women support the public option and healthcare reform....have a wonderful Sunday!

So, as a conservative, I am racist because I didn't vote for President Obama? When was the last time that YOU voted in a national presidential race for the party that represented everything you thought was wrong?
Those that voted against the president fall into several different categories. Yes...some are racist. Some, like myself, didn't cast my vote in his favor because of his politics. As an Illinois resident, I knew more about the president's voting record than most of those that voted for him. I could care less about his or anyone else's race. It is his politics that I objected to and I still do. I hold no ill will against him either. He was elected fair and square and we will reap the benefits or the negative results because of it.
