Public Healthcare Option

Market Watch:

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Odds are growing longer for the public health-insurance option that the White House has pushed as part of an overhaul of the U.S. health-care system, with President Barack Obama saying over the weekend that such an option doesn't represent the "entirety" of health-care reform.

"The public option, whether we have it or we don't have it, is not the entirety of health-care reform," Obama said on Saturday in Grand Junction, Colo. "This is just one sliver of it."

The public option is not dead. Get rid of those insurance companies at the right or you will loose big time.

And for all anyone knows it could be the insurance companies themselves purchasing their own stock?

So Wall St tries to put on pressure by saying "Look if you put in public option now, the market will fall more..."

F the market. Do what's right for a change.

All stocks will rise on news of health-care being defeated as the bill hurts economic prosperity in exchange for security. You have to option of freedom or security. The constitution offers freedom while the teachings of karl marx offers security. You choose. My choice is for freedom.

I think you need to re-think your position. There's a little too much flag waving and a real lack of understanding about the economics of healthcare and the competive nature of today's world marketplace. Don't worry though wave the flag harder and tie a few ribbons on trees. You'll feel better.

and where was this cry for freedom when the patriot act passed, or when they were tapping phones, and emails, when they started a war without cause?

as a small business owner... the public option would have allowed me to hire people...you know... create jobs

but then I guess that's not important... you have the freedom to go bankrupt from medical bills now, and I have the freedom to not hire people

GREAT JOB!

That's not the same "freedom" to "security" ratio that Benjamin Franklin was referring to.

Apparently, I missed the fine print at the bottom.
"The freedom in the Constitution is is the sole property of corporations and intended for their use only. This offer of freedom does not apply to American citizens.

The most pressing issue is why we, the American people, were fooled into thinking Obama would create more jobs.

The biggest thrill for me, besides millions of Americans finally getting the health coverage they deserve, would be to see all these Wall Streeters sink millions into the insurance companies and have their profits go down by 80%.

That would be justice.

Except that I'm sure that a great many retirement funds, 401(k)s, and IRAs have more than a little vested interest in their performance.

There is no surer sign of the moneybags winning over the people than the stock market rising.

And there is no better way to find out what is good for us, the people, than the parasites bolting for cover, taking all the stolen billions with them.

so basically, the repubs are celebrating the right of corporations to completely crush the average American...

No... oh no, not government run healthcare... please take 30 cents of every dollar and line the pockets of investors... then deny me health care when I need it... cuz it's the American Way!

YAY Freedom!

I'm now convinced that I live in a country of cowards and morons

The worst may be ahead. The Supreme Court is coming back early to hear a case that they did not rule on last term. That could give person status to corporations - which the conservatives on the Court can't wait to do. If this happens, we will be going down the road to corporate domination since the individual will not have a chance in court. I was surprised in doing some research, that while previous SC rulings have given corporations rights, none have given them legal standing as a person.

People should take note, if Wall Street likes it, then it is not good for the average person on the street.

well at least their 401k accounts will rebound, just in time for them to get sick, and the hospitals and insurance companies to sue them into bankruptcy

Well if Wall St. is celebrating the end of a public option, than it MUST BECOME a part of any health care reform.
