The Funniest Signs From Town Hall Protests (PICS)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 9/17/09 Updated: 5/25/11

We scoured the Internet looking for funny protest signs (you know, the ones that don't make you want to curl up in a ball and cry) from the town hall protests. But now we want to hear from you! If you've seen any we missed email us here.

Here's a gem from a protest in New Hampshire: A man holding a sign with arrows pointing to the other protesters saying, "We have NO idea what we're talking about." (Via Democratic Underground)

Here's a man with a serious cause: Getting the president involved in putting "Arrested Development" back on the air. It's the most important issue of our time. (Via Joey Devilla)

From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch comes this photo of a protester carrying a sign that reads "Angry Mob." She either has a wry sense of humor or no imagination whatsoever.

Thanks to reader Dale Nakagawa, we found these awesome pics of two cheeky and Gilda-Radner inspired protesters.

Thanks to reader FS Gilbert for this shot from Portsmouth, NH!

And, last but not least, thanks to many of our readers for sending in this picture of a woman whose lack of spell check made for a strong, if off topic, protest sign. (Via NewsObserver.com)

What is most difficult for me to understand is that I know why people feel like there are "elites" versus "non-elites". I grew up with a single mom on welfare and part of why we felt slighted and "non-elite" was because we didn't have health insurance. I remember being scared because she couldn't afford health insurance and, therefore, I couldn't get sick. A society should not live like that.

I'm a Solar Salesman and have an organic fertilizer partnership. The President said August 14/15, 2009 that he had 2/3 the money for this project already in house from "waste and inefficiency"...

I VOTED FOR OBAMA AND I CANNOT DECIDE, HELP! Please answer these questions for me please:

TWO THIRDS FROM WASTE EQUALS

1. 231,000,000 Americans that should have free health care today. If the number is high, take it down by 50%. 115, 000,000 Americans should have FREE HEALTH CARE TODAY.

2. Free is not an option for the poor, lower class and into the middle class, why not if 200M people have already been covered with the money the rich have already paid into the system?

3. Why has this money not gone into social security for my children?

I just cannot get over it. My President said to my face, I have 2/3rds the cost in house, now I need more. Would we give them the right to our medical information? Would we be mandating that everyone pay into the "big insurance companies" more money if 2/3rds the population was already covered? Whats going on?

Complete ignorance and fear from these "protesters." The one gentleman was correct, they honestly have no idea what they are talking about. For instance, the single-payer or public option is not a system of socialized medicine...oops, got that one wrong.
One ray of sunshine...I liked the sign that stated "I hate protesters"...protest is good when the argument is based on empirical data and logical facts, but these antieverythingobamadoes morons are basing their arguments on ginned-up emotions and lies; sad, but true.

I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy.

You've got to get mad. You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!'

And that my friends is exactly what the Tea Party is doing. There is no way this is astroturf. Moveon.org, ACORN (altho those groups have some good points) they are astroturf.

Where were you the last 8 yrs? Why choose now to come out and voice your opposition? You didn't listen to us when we said there were no WMD's in Iraq. You didn't listen to us when we said Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. You didn't listen to us when we said your freedoms were being taken away with warrantless wiretapping and the patriot act. You didn't listen to us when Congress was a death panel on Terry Schiavo. You didn't listen to us when we said corporations had too much influence in goivernment. You didn't listen to us when we suggested alternative energy technologies. So why should we listen to you now?

Ha ha! lets laugh at the idiots who dare to stand against the agenda of the elite regime. How clever those liberals were for slipping "behind enemy lines" to hold up signs of mockery. How dare these imperfect citizens who sometimes misspell words dare to voice an opinion! We should make it mandatory that people who want to express opinions goto ivy league schools first. And to ProdigalDaughter, yes Jesus was a socialist. But VOLUNTARY socialism or philanthropy as we now refer to it, is a FAR CRY from imposed socialism or its military sister fascism.

The elite regime left office January 20th 2009. Our voice was squandered when we protested the W Administration. We were beaten by police and arrested for voicing our opinion. Because you have a democratic president is why you are allowed your constitutional freedom to protest and even allowed to bear arms at such events. Big difference between then and now. We believe in teh constitutiona nd it is reflected in our actions. The constitution didn't see the light of day from 2001-2008.

Is he an imperfect citizen who sometimes misspells words?

Careful with exaggerated euphemisms.

I bet 99% of these protesters don't know the first line in the Constitution.

Yeah, these signs are really funny, but Obama's socialist plan is not!

yes Jesus was a socialist. But VOLUNTARY socialism or philanthropy as we now refer to it, is a FAR CRY from imposed socialism or its military sister fascism. by the way, google: martial law in the news section, see how close we are to "papers? papers please.. may i see your papers?"

These protestors kinda remind me of when I was a union organizer. The "no union" people were always the cr@zy loud mouthed employees. They just didn't get it and neither do these people.

To paraphrase Barney Frank....These people are lucky to live in a country where they are free to be as information-free as they wish.

By the way, let me know when, if they ever do get around to the death panels. If it's sort of like a "blue ribbon panel", there are a couple of names I'd like them to consider,,,,,and that's just one senator from my state and my representative.

You do realize that you are making a glib joke about human life? That is the problem here, human life is no longer precious, how can we expect a society who murders its children in the name of convenience and enviornmentalism.

Well, my congressman and senator are who you should be talking to about human life. They don't seem to care that people go without needed medical care everyday, some eventually dying, because they are voting with the insurance companies and big business in general on every important matter before them.

I don't really need to waste death panel time on my senator, though. He's busy drinking himself to death and has been for years.

And get off your abortion soap box. You have no idea what my views are on this subject, based on my remarks. You sound as if you are just a little angry and should go home to the Drudge Report and play with your friends.

I love when misinformation and fear is met by truth and humor.

Reminds me of when Kevin Smith joined the people protesting his own movie, Dogma:

It's funny to see the signs together and laugh -- because it is so preposterous. But it underlines the complete lack of "wilfull" listening and evaluating. These people are driven either by an organized campaign or simple stupidity. But it's not funny, because the very democracy that allows such mis-information to exists, can also derail the process.

I, for one, cannot laugh...
