Iranians headed to the polls for the June 12th presidential elections. The landslide victory quickly claimed by incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his supporters
was contested by opposition candidates causing many citizens to
take to the streets in protest, in Iran and around the world. The resulting police crackdown saw a high number of arrests, including journalists and photographers. Ahmadinejad was
officially sworn into office on August 5.
