Meghan McCain, E.D. Hill To Guest Host "The View" During Elisabeth Hasselbeck Maternity Leave

While Elisabeth Hasselbeck is out on maternity leave this fall, "The View" will be replacing her with Meghan McCain and "terrorist fist jab" former Fox News anchor E.D. Hill.

The New York Post's Maxine Shen reports that McCain will guest host the show for three days, starting September 9 (the Wednesday after Labor Day).

The daughter of John & Cindy McCain will be joining the show on the one-year anniversary of her first appearance on the show, when she shared an awkward hug with Barbara Walters.

In March, McCain made headlines appearing on the show again, when she told Laura Ingraham, who had been criticizing her weight, to "kiss my fat ass!" She then served as a guest host for two days in April.

Earlier this week, McCain tweeted about special announcements coming up but gave no indication what they were.

"Going to LA next week to film something so crazy and amazing, I promise all will be revealed but SO EXCITED and SURPRISED to be asked!!" said one tweet. "And then I have another very special announcement coming up in September, gonna be a busy few weeks/month," said the follow-up. Both tweets have since been deleted.

While the Post describes McCain as "the divisive daughter of Sen. John McCain," it's Hill that may prove to be a more controversial choice of co-host.

"ABC has also confirmed that former Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill has been lined-up as a guest host, since Hasselbeck isn't due back to work until mid-October," Shen writes.

Hill gained notoriety in 2008 when asking on Fox News whether a fist bump shared between Barack and Michelle Obama was secretly a "terrorist fist jab." She would lose her show shortly thereafter and leave the network later in the year.

Hill guest-hosted "The View" last October when Hasselbeck was out on a class trip with her daughter Grace.

I hope one of the other cohosts asks ED why Fox didn't renew her contract. I am not completely convinced that Elisabeth is coming back. I wouldn't be surprised if she joined Fox.

ED Hill was stupid w her "terrorist fist jab' comment. But every1 deserves a 2nd chance. Hill has 3 kids w from each of her ex husbands, plus her husband's kids, so she does need to work.

I stopped watching once Hasselbeck came on the show.
I respect Joy, Whoopi and Barbara and will gladly go back to watching if Hasselbeck does not come back from maternity leave.
I don't mind an opposing view, but Hasselbeck doesn't do any research b4 blathering on and on and on.

D. terrorist fist bump Hill with current unemployed panelists Sarah not a quitter Palin, Orly birther Taitz, Ann da man Coulter and to balance the bench at the other end is Meghan big boned McCain. Their first scheduled guest to get their brain picked is Congresswoman Michelle read this card Bachmann. To insure a large debut audience the last 15 minute segment will be a queen of the hill contest of the panel and guest featuring a raised podium with only 1 live mic that they must physically compete for to be heard on the tv machine! Viewers are encouraged to place bets on the daily winner online or on twitter.

Personally I'd rather watch paint dry than watch Meghan Mc C. do anything (girly gushing is NOT the same as political astuteness no metter what Daddy says) but she's better than the leave it to beaver/stepford wives that usually get trotted out as the reichwing's female contingent.

What do these folks NOT get ? ALl chase after the FOx AUdience and fail to realize that when Fox claims vast numbers OF Audience--in part due to so many being "cable" access sorts, and multiple channels at that with sports and trite fluff...MS­NBC is NOT on the first tier of cable/sat access --true , Cnn is and there is CBS/NBC/ABC all basically avaialble "free"...t­he Fox "audience" is NOT what THEY perceive--they should try for HIGHER standards and would perhaps discover audience willing to regularly tune in but as they do NOT, folks tune them ALL majorly off and seek news and even entertainment ELSEWHERE and for sure, NOT FOX !!!
