Billy Bush, co-host of the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant, is hoping for a repeat of this year's Miss USA contest, in which Miss California Carrie Prejean answered a controversial question on same-sex marriage and kick-started a national debate.

"I love knowing [the Q&A portion] is coming up," Bush told reporters this week. "In a moment of 30 seconds on live TV, anything can go wrong, and it usually does.

Now, aren't these pageants a little past their due date? To enter - one would really have to have a huge ego and tons of makeup and phony body parts.

And, the message to young girls would be? Beauty first, intelligence and everything else means nadda.

Miss U.S.A., or America, or Universe, or whatever this idiot pageant is, is a living-beathing anachronism. Its not glamorous, its not in the least entertaining, and the women are more grotesque than anything else. I see more desireable women at my local supermarket! And the whole concept flies in the face of 40+ years of feminist advances. Actually, the pageants had nearly died out before 'reality TV' raised its ugly head. Now the pageants have been recycled as another 'reality' venue for egotistical young women to publicly humilitate themselves.
