Jenny Sanford Still Wants To Save Marriage, Friends Say

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina's first lady Jenny Sanford is working to fix her shattered marriage after her husband admitted a yearlong affair.

Two longtime friends of the governor's wife told CBS's "The Early Show" Monday that Jenny Sanford wants to be able to say that she did everything possible to reconcile with Gov. Mark Sanford.

The Republican governor returned from a weeklong mystery absence in June to admit to an affair with an Argentine woman he called his soul mate. He's vowed to stay in office and says he is trying to reconcile with his wife.

The Sanfords and their four sons took a two-week vacation to Europe last month. After they returned, Jenny Sanford moved out of the governor's mansion with the children and is staying at the family's coastal home.

Well, she has moved out. Any woman that hears her husband say, "She is my soulmate" and keeps asking his wife if he can go see her in Argentina would, with a smidgeon of self respect, kick him to the curb. He says he wants to fall in love with his wife again. Well, IMO she has done everything possible. Time to move on.

She is obviously a glutton for punishment. There are reports that his lover is in the country, If so, she needs to give it up. Give it up sister, he is so not into you. The victims in this case are the kids . So sad. Maybe gov Sanford is trying to follow his heart .

Jenny has already done everything possible to save her marriage. Now, she needs to move on. She is starting to become a clone of Elizabeth Edwards.

She wants to reconcile - yet she chose to separate from Mark Sanford.

She wants privacy from public scrutiny for herself and her family - yet she is regularly seeking out national interviews either personally or through surrogates.

She wants to be considered a 'role model of women who have lived with cheating husbands' - Yet she and her husband have done nothing to further the well being of her state. She wants to be respected for her husbands inane disrespect of his state.

Both Sanfords are not to be trusted. The next time we read a headline about either of these two, it should involve Mark Sanfords removal from office.

A man who is in love with another woman and admitted to multiple affairs is enough for some women to walk away, but not for Jenny. She feels staying with Mark is the best for her boys. It is a sad situation for children, but their father can still stay in their lives if he truly loves them. If she stays, the boys will treat women like their father is treating her because that will be their example. In the end, the boys have to be shown that you respect your wife and family and if a man cannot do that then it is not worth being in that marriage.

Do many of you people commenting here, and I'm speaking to those who are writing that Mrs. Sanford is staying with her husband for the money, even read?

Get the facts.

Jenny Sanford was the one who brought the money to the marriage.

Now, go theorize to your hearts' content.

Of course, South Carolina divorce laws may be as crazy as California's. A friend of mine in California who made most, if not all, of the money in her family, actually had to pay her psychotic abusive lying bum ex-husband (who was an even worse d**k than Mark Sanford) alimony. If so, she may be staying with her husband in order not to have to pay him alimony. Which, being the d**k that he is, the un-governe­d-by-rules­-governing­-mere-mort­als Governor would surely demand.

Actually, the reality is worse. Mrs. Sanford is the one with the money.

She's still in denial that she made a mistake.

Many spouses cheat, and more still are, being human, far from perfect, even if they are faithful.

But Mark Sanford has demonstrated that he believes he did what he did not because he made a mistake, or because of temptation, but because he's actually a "superior being." Read up on the "philosophy" of C Streeters.

I hope Jenny Sanford eventually makes use of the intelligence she purportedly has. She's better off without this bad joke for a husband.
