Yes, the party of "values" will agonize for who-knows-how-long over whether to actually do the right thing for a change. For anyone with an ounce of integrity, this is an easy call.

So let's get this straight...
He lies to his constituents
He is negligent in his official duties while flying off to see his MISTRESS
He is negligent in his official duties since he does not inform his Lieutenant Governor that he is in charge while he is absent
He misuses taxpayer funds taking the trips to see his mistress
He misuses taxpayer funds flying off on other personal business

And he is still in office?

You're forgetting the golden rule of con moral relativism: It's O.K. if you're a republican.

Not gonna happen. GOP is just yodeling up the gulley. Remember: Karl's playbook for GOP politicians explains everything perfectly: "Never admit guily or complicity. When you get caught doing something, blame the media, play the victim, ask everyone to respect your family's privacy and move on. It will all blow over eventually." Below are some key phrases to use:
1. "I'm asking the media to respect my kid's privacy during this difficult time."
2. "I'm just concerned about doing the business of the people of (insert state's name here)
3. "This is all just political posturing by the liberals."
4. "Well, it's important to look forward."
5."This is an ongoing investigation so I can't comment at this time."

South Carolinians get the leaders they deserve. Sanford is a quintessential right-wing, South Carolinian. Likes to talk about his faith; likes to point the finger at others' moral failings; likes to do "whats right rather than what is good for his constituents." But in the end, he has no faith, no morals, and no principles, which aligns him well with his supporters. They deserve him.

They're just saying this to make themselves look responsible (so they don't go down with him) and to try and force him out.
My bet is, if he refuses to resign, they won't actually impeach.

Poor South Carolina - Sanford is their governor, their lt. governor is someone no one wants to have the top job, and everyone else is laughing at them. One mistake Sanford made (among many) though was to anger many of his own GOP House and Senate members and they are not ready to do him any favors. Sanford will never resign willingly, though - it's all he has left, he's lost everything else. Besides, as C Street would say - God put him there; God will have to remove him, and that's what he believes.

He should be impeached!! We know more about his love-life than what he is doing for his constituents. DISGRACEFUL

How long does it take to impeach this man. They have been talking about it for weeks.

Just do it and get it ov er with. He is a disgrace.

Its embarrassing that he would rather be impeached than step down - especially for the family.

Sanford is not only an embarrassment to South Carolina, he's an embarrassment to public service in general.

Isn't it admirable that they are working on important matters during August. No rest for the weary.
