JImmy Kimmel returned to television last night after weeks of vacation and brought with him video of Obama's press conference from Martha's Vineyard. It seems the president has fully relaxed...maybe a little much.

I love the way this guy seems to be at ease within his own person, at what ever he is doing and where ever he is. He just appears to be what he is and that's a very down to earth person.

The thing is I'm not a big fan of Obama's political sway, but I like him.

It's an interesting point, because Americans in recent years have depended on people like Stewart and Colbert to represent a point of view that was lacking. Those two do political shows that are well researched. And they are, imo, true American heroes.

But It's worth asking whether a generation of Americans are being groomed to believe that comedians (in any context) can be "believed," in a sense. Old-school comics for whom funny is the only rule would do well to consider the new environment. I think there's room for all types of humor, but it's worth discussing.

I see the Republican morons ( I know, that's redundant) are out in force, showing their ignorance of Jimmy Kimmel specialties, like altering photos and film clips. All the other late night hosts are known to do this as well. Last night Letterman showed himself in a movie clip of "Inglourious Basterds." No, simpletons, he isn't really in the movie. Satire, sarcasm, photoshop, you name it...it's all lost on the Repubs. Goes right over their heads, without mussing a single hair.

I think the President would get a good laugh out of that. (You'll notice the arm movements don't correspond with the shoulder movements. That's how you can tell it's fake.)

As has been said before, there's a difference between being funny and being mean.
