What's Your Reaction?

Representative Jim Moran fell victim to a vigorous maligning from out of town teabaggers last night during his town hall in Reston, VA. Howard Dean was billed as the special guest, but anti-abortion agitator and Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry surprised the crowd by taking center stage.

The event started boisterous and only grew louder as Terry chanted "You Are A Baby Killer" and "We Won't Pay For Murder." Eyes & Ears citizen reporter Ryan J. Reilly captured Randall's outburst on video:

Citizen journalists at the event reported that Congressman Moran incited the crowd further when he suggested there were some people in attendance who don't live in his district and had come only to disrupt the meeting. As Salon reports, Moran first singled out the instigator, demanding that Randall leave the town hall, "but then reconsidered, offering him the chance to ask the first question as long as he ended his protest and kept the question short enough that other people would still have their chance."

Terry declined. Instead he was escorted from the building as he continued to accuse Dean of murdering babies.

Overall the crowd was largely supportive of health care reform, though detractors made themselves easy to spot. FireDogLake did a good job explaining why these protesters were likely not from Moran's district and Ryan J. Reilly caught the juxtaposition in jpg form:

Reston has a voting population that is about 75-80% Democratic, so as Moran noted when Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, started agitating from the crowd, these weren't people who lived there.

Moran finally had to have Terry thrown out. Terry was stirring up the highly emotional and not quite bright teabagger set by ranting that abortion would be covered in this health care bill (thank you Kendrick Meek and Marcy Kaptur, it won't)

What if they are white skinned and from a muslim country? Or what if they are dark skinned from a Christian country?
Do they have to qualify on both counts?

I got no problem with abortion being free. I got a problem with murderous, loud mouth terrorist instigaters. Abortion is a legal precedure provided to women who may choose to use it if appropriate for them individually. Anyone getting in the way of they're constitutional right to medical treatment should be jailed and any man who thinks he has a right to make a womans choice is a sissy. randal Terry is a punk who got rich on idiots who actually think the republican party will undoe roe v wade. The republicans would never do it. They just like to use it as a wedge issue between women and hysterical, judgemental pea-brains that are sooooo self rightous. until one of they'res screw up then they make excuses for them. There is no excuse for the way our government, especially when bush was bombin/ babies in iraq has not protected the legal and medical rights of our american women and has let a minority of hypocrite bullies get away with terror and murder of physicians. Shame on all of you and I'll see you in Church...And we are watching you.

I find it interesting and troubling that the anti-health care reform people say they don't want help from the government. But, it's alright for the insurance industry to lobby (use the government) for their own interests. These anti "everything" people don't realize that the insurance industry is being subsidized by the government. The same people who screamed no government bailouts for Wall Street are now indirectly supporting Wall Street. When it looked like the public option was going to be dropped Wall Street cheered. Corporate America is turning these people against themselves. The health care debate is only one of many issues taking place here. There's three domestic wars taking place here and the participants are the government, the corporations and the American people. So far it looks like the corporations are winning.

What happened to the government being, for the people and by the people? So, we have Republican Senators saying they don't want a government option while using a government option for themselves. That has to sound ridiculous even to them. I guess it doesn't have to make sense, when they stand to make lots of money.

September 13, 2009 be in Washington, DC for the Kennedy Health Reform March. It's up to us to turn this nightmare into the American dream.

Why do anti-abortion people have to lie about things? It's so trashy. Just speak your mind and stick to the facts.

National Health Care is now the Great TROJAN Horse to bring Abortion to the masses - FREE and EASY !!!!!!!! So much for President Obama's promise to make them rare... Just more hogwash from a habitual liar! DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR to Nationalized Health Care - there will be NO RETURN...for anyone.

No one has to bring abortion to the masses - no trojan horse is necessary, it's legal now. You are totally demagoguing this issue. No one forces a woman into an abortion clinic - she goes because she has to, and it's nobody's business but HERS.

Hold your nose because here comes the cold water-

Many insurance companies WE all pay into now cover elective abortion.

In the end, its all the same.

If you must reside in the district to be allowed into the town hall meetings shouldn't this apply to the union enforcers that the adminstration is getting to go to these same meetings?
Another question along the same ethical lines. Several states have voted to term limit their federal representatives. The federal representatives claim that the states have no right to limit their terms because they are federal employees. If this is true and I live in Kansas but want to attend a town hall meeting in Nebraska shouldn't I be allowed to because it is being held by a federal employee?
I think what we are seeing is the beginning of a peoples movement to take back control of our government. Our government needs to be cut off from power and money just like an alcholic needs to be cut off from the hooch. The public servants are addicted to spending out money and now that we are broke as a nation they are looking for more and more creative ways to confiscate more or our hard earned money.
Do we really need to spend 5 trillion dollars a year?
Do we really need to keep increasing the budget year after year even when there is deflation?
Think about it. It is not about providing healthcare to all. It is about money and power.

Having worked as clinic security for a number of women's health care clinics for about 10 years I can say that these people are loons. Mr. Moran should have just kicked him out. Barney Frank said it best that arguing with them is like arguing with a dining room table (though we were outside and said a lamp post). They DO NOT LISTEN, they only talk. If you wish to exercise your spleen and have an arguement with them, by all means do so. It will only accomplish raising blood pressures.

It looks to me like Randall Terry is looking for some press here. He's got to keep up his profile don't you know. I mean how else can you inspire sensless acts of violence unless people know who you are.

shout outs
tea parties

all carrying guns to meetings to intimidate free speech by those who support our president and his desires to bring health care to all americans
the guns must be banned from all public meetings

Philss,

ever notice that the teabaggers that protest Town Halls do NOT carry US Flags? Instead they carry Adolf's props.

Denial of free speech is a terrible thing. Here is some video of a protester outside of the Moran town hall whose free speech a police officer attempted to quell by prohibiting the man from displaying his sign (sign depicting President Obama as "The Joker" from the recent Batman film). Regardless of whether or not anyone agrees with the man's statements later in the video (he is very passionate), denying him the ability to hold his sign is wrong.

People we must realize that people like Randal Terry and the organizations that he represents are the
"New American Taliban". These people will stop at nothing to force you to live by their narrow religious views. We have seen what happens in other countries where these people have not been stopped. We have also seen the violence that these people represent in America today.

I personally consider Randal Terry to be a terrorist. He should never be allowed to see the light of day again.
