Truth a little hard to swallow?
The ignorance of those cherry picking things out of a great mans life is astounding. Most, especially those railing against him because of Chappaquiddick are forgetting how he took responsibility and made up for a tragic mistake hundred fold. The short list of things that he did that we take for granted and that have protected working Americans is awe inspiring:
1) Medicare
2) Worker safety
3) Woman in School Sports
4) Minimum wage
5) Desegregation
One of the greatest Senators this country has ever had will be missed big time!
Let not forget the money he donated to harvard, the was a saint.
The last I understood this country did NOT have an aristocracy, and there's no magic "stuff" in DNA. With all due respect to him, why does it have to be someone from the same family who fills his shoes?
It's about carrying the family banner -- being the head of the Kennedy Family, not about the senate seat.
This is a republic, not a monarchy, and DC needs a good flushing anyway. We need new blood there, and the entrenched interests need to be diluted.

I say bless Ted Kennedy and I wish him peace, but it is well over the time we stop acting like this family is royalty.

There has never been any service provided by "the unique family." There have been members OF this family who have served well in political office, but as someone else posted here, "greatness is not hereditary
Of course maybe you don't believe that argument, and instead believe Jeb Bush, Liz Cheney and Rand Paul are more deserving of political office because of their parents, I don't know.

hopefully no one will fill Ted's shoes. There is no dynasty. Just a big, extended family back east. There are lots of those there.
The Kennedy's are so yesterday. Who cares? Just because you are a Kennedy it makes you special? Didn't Caroline Kennedy dispel the myth last year that the Kennedy's were blessed? If anything, she proved to be less than ordinary.
Kennedy does not spell god. But neither does any other name in today's politics. I don't think god wants a part of politics.
And I don't believe that EMK thought of himself as representing god.

The poll was about filling his shoes in the FAMILY --- so of course it will NOT be anyone from outside the family!
Social change is the family's credo- all of these are activist in one way or another and then a clashing note when one reads:

I don't expect any Kendedy do to anything but what they feel individually responsible to do. This isn't a marketing term or brand it's a family.
It's time to tell this nation we are people, we members of families/ We aren't marketing bits and pieces. I for one am tired of the termsIcon and hero. I don't even know what a terrorist is. I do know what a religious radical/extremist is, and I am seeing more of them in my own country than foreign ones.
