Anne Heche Calls Ex A Lazy Ass (VIDEO)

*UPDATE* Heche's ex is "disturbed" by her public comments and fires back.

Anne Heche made a painfully unabashed case against marriage Wednesday night when she told David Letterman her ex-husband was a "lazy ass."

Six months ago her long and bitter divorce battle with Coley Laffoon finally ended, leaving him with a big settlement and shared custody of their seven-year-old son, Homer, but the feud continues. "It's funny because you can't quite let go of the ex," she said.

When asked what Laffoon does for a living, the actress said, "He goes out to the mailbox and he opens up the little mailbox door and goes, 'Oh! I got a check from Anne! Oh! I got a check from Anne! Yay!'"

Heche has no plans for marrying longtime boyfriend James Tupper, the father of her five-month-old son, Atlas.

Her advice: "Don't get married. Forever engaged is a wonderful romantic thing to do."

When she married, it was for the purpose of each spouse being supported in the lifestyle they were able to achieve. You cannot divorce and simply expect that your ex-spouse will then be entirely on his/her own and live whatever lifestyle he/she is able to get. You made a commitment. Divorce does not release that commitment. If you don't like alimony, then don't get married.

Two thoughts.
1. Double standard. Male entertainers who make a career out of being neurotic and/or disgruntled about their lovers (Johnny Carson, Richard Lewis, Woody Allen, etc.) have been doing this kind of shtick for years and everyone gets it, but people aren't as inclined to cut any slack to a woman being crass for comedic effect.
2. People who have been abused as kids are often operating on a different emotional level than those who had normal well adjusted childhoods. All the social niceties that we're all supposed to observe sometimes don't mean a lot when no one observed them with you when you really needed it. So yeah, celebrities like Anne Heche and Roseanne are out there, but I find it kind of refreshing after all the cookie cutter, brainless, carefully inoffensive celebrity fluffheads you usually find on talk shows. Yeah she's crazy, but at least she's not a phony.

Oh Please! Give me a break! The woman selfishly went on national television to smear the father of her child. There is NEVER an excuse to do that to your child. Whatever issues she has with the father should be fought through the courts or discussed with a therapist. She showed herself to be nothing but trash, and I am someone who spent a year in a domesttic violence shelter and I would NEVER smear my child's father in her presence or in a forum where she could me made aware of it. Disgusting.

You have a point, but then you lost that point. Out of the box behavior is totally different from Anne Heche behavior! And she clearly exhibits behavior that is beyond just being raised by bad parents, this poor woman is menally ill! If she has not received professional help, she might want to seriously think about it before she causes irreparble harm to her kids. I still remember the events leading to her breakup with Ellen Degeneress; I also remember her interviews afterwards and then others years later--this is not just "eccentric" or "just out of the cookie cutter" behavior. She appears to have borderline personality disorder, she needs serious professional help and medication. Roseanne and her are no comparisson, Roseanne is depressive, and her eccentricities have much more clarity of mind than Anne Heche ever exhibited. She is cute, but the poor woman needs serious professional help!

Oh I don't think she's quite as dysfunctional as all that. The woman works all the time. If she was that out of it no one would hire her, but as soon as one series ends she's on another one, and she always turns in an excellent performance. I think everyone is making way too big a deal of her Letterman appearance. If you saw the last time she was on his show he asked her a lot of boneheaded smutty questions about lesbianism and really put her on the spot and forced her to get defensive and back him up. This time I think she decided to get sarcastic with him right out of the box, and frankly I thought she was pretty funny.

On HUGE - she plays the part of a bitter, greedy woman who divorced her husband. Is she acting? It doesn't seem like she has to reach very far to find substance for the role of a bitter, greedy woman divorcee. In the show the children prefer the father's humanity - I wonder how much art imitates life.
