As someone who lived in the Soundview section of the Bronx, all I can say is this is a classic fugazy!
Did Espada take this scheme directly from the HBO drama, The Wire?
Oh, no this actually pre-dates The Wire.
Espada is another Sharpe James.
I hope they send him, his son or anyone else who got their mitts on any of this money to jail.
The Bronx has been a hot-bed of corruption for years. The good ones like Adolfo Carrion, Jr. get out. It’s really sad place perfect for creeps like Espada to set up shop. Also, let’s not forget religious nut-jobs like that ignoramus, Rubin Diaz Sr.

Atty General Andrew "golden boy" Cuomo supposedly has been investigating the corrupt Pedro Espada since last winter and yet nothing. If he can't successfully indict, prosecute and convict Espada then I guess his chances for being elected or him running for Governor is slim to none. He also has to keep in mind that by going after Espada he'll lose Hispanic support and their vote. Add that with the Carl McCall factor (many Blacks are still miffed over that) Andrew Cuomo will not run for Governor. Remember you heard it hear first.

When Espada and Monserratte pulled their shenanigans in Albany last June Espada base Puerto Ricans of the Bronx were cheering him on and supported him. They celebrated with glee when he returned to the Democrats , receiving a lulu of a package and money, that he promptly hired friends, supporters and relatives with. Rightfully or not his people stand by him. If Pedro is indicted Andrew will receive little to no Hispanic votes. As far as the Blacks well we remember the way he sabotaged Carl McCall candidacy, does anyone expect him to garner the Black vote for sabotaging another Black mans chance at being elected. Mr. Cuomo is in a conundrum.
