Medical Marijuana Colorado

The Denver Post:

Two doctors account for more than a third of the patients on Colorado's medical-marijuana registry, and five doctors account for more than 50 percent of the patients, according to statistics from the state health department.

In all, of the 10,000 medical-marijuana patients on the state's registry, 75 percent of those received their recommendations from one of only 15 doctors.

Unfortunately pot cannot be linked to lung cancer. http://www.webmd.com/lung-cancer/news/20060523/pot-smoking-not-linked-to-lung-cancer

Obviously there is expected to be some sort of link, and I agree with you. But until legalization it will be difficult to track heavy, medium and light pot usage and separate the results reliably from cigarette users.

Why waste taxpayer money on this? There isn't a single recorded case of someone dying from cannabis use. Where's the threat to public health?

Sounds like a non-issue to me.

Way past time to try something DIFFERENT... ----
SOLVING THE DRUG PROBLEM ----
1. The government provides drugs
for FREE. ----
2. Drugs available at local clinics with
prescriptions for those drugs which
now require prescriptions. Some
drugs would require an addiction
reduction regiment - "gradual
reduction in the quantity of drug used." ----
3. Recreational drugs such as marijuana,
would require attendance to an
educational program before each dose
provided. ----
4. Housing, food, education, and health
care provided if necessary to stop the
usage. ----
BENEFITS ----
1. Lives saved. ----
2. Trillions of dollars saved by not having
to pay for hospital care, cops, jails,
lawyers, judges, probation officers, and
crimes committed to obtain drugs. ----
3. More people being productive citizens. ----
Thank you, ----

Oh please, if you're going to review these doctors for writing prescriptions for medical marijuana then you'd better be prepared to go after doctors who write for harder drugs with numerous refills and no patient monitoring.
