ALL soy and corn products are GMO. The seeds have all been altered. Canola oil is poison to begin with, organic or not.

hmmmmmmmmmm........reading the Title again....."mostly Biotech free" doesn't sound good.
The food products are either non-GMO or contain GMO. It's either "Yes" or "No".
I always read the labels carefully, but even then you can't trust the labels.

Count me in! I will buy non-GMO food. Why wait for the government to protect us? It's a great idea and obviously needed.

I avoid the supermarkets for my food purchases, specifically because I know that most of their products contain GMO's, hormones, and pesticides.
I buy at farmers markets. I'm also going to start buying products from Eden Foods, since I read in this article that the company, which is still privately owned (thank god) and its founder do not use any GMO foods and they don't use BPA laced packaging.
It seems that Eden Foods is a true hero in the food distribution chain and i will support them.

I really like the idea of this 'Non GMO" Label. I hope more products that do not contain GMO's will start using these labels.
This will truly result in a food war between food companies.
Now, I see so many brands using the logo "Organic" and it's become diluted.
WIth "Non GMO", it's either true Non-GMO or Not; There is no play with that specific criteria.
I Love It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Companies that want $$$$ from eco/green consumers will be forced to stop using Monsanto's seeds and food products and will have to change, or risk losing profits from a growing segment of People buying Non-GMO foods.
With this new label, the consumer will have the Power to refuse to purchase despicable foods, laced with GMO ingredients.

Hooray for consumer information and choice!!!!!!!

Hooray for Farmers Markets, NON-GMO, and Eden Foods!!!!!!

This seems to be a very capitalistic approach. Without government interference, it adds something to the bargain that the customer wants -- information.

'May' be 'mostly' free of GMO? Trust the USDA to water down the definition of organics.

I guess it's ok it's all we can expect from the ag sector now, bar is pretty low,....I mean 'MOSTLY non gmo' sounds pretty watered down, and seems for right now it's only good as a marketing/advertising gimmick

This is fantastic.

If this gets wide usage, I'd gladly avoid purchasing GM'd foods. But we all know the "free market" conservatives will never let that happen.

I agree. I buy organic soy specifically because I don't want to support Monsanto. Not interested in eating a bunch of pesticide.

This is a good idea. A better idea would be for the US government stop bending over and allowing GMO crops to be planted and put into the food markets in the first place. From economics, the environment and human health is threatened by Monsanto. they already control over 75% of the seed market and now they are contaminating the gene pool with this dangerous project all so they can make more money. at he risk of pretty much everyone and everything.
Buy local and buy fresh as often as you can and get to know who you're buying from and ask lots of questions about about how the food was grown and where the seeds came from before you by. your life could depend on it.

What you are saying is exactly so. We have to be very concerned about these genetically modified foods.
Growing your own food is the best way to insure protection but not everybody can do that..so next best is buying local from your fresh produce small farmers, canning what you can..always asking questions about the food source...
Large grocery stores know nothing about the beginning growing source of the foods they carry.
