As an Arizonan I watched Renzi's case closely, and was also quite surprised to see Bush's DOJ pursue it with such vigor. I remember thinking that it was providing cover for much of the legislative and Executive action that was going on at the time (Bush's big rush of Executive Orders) but that it was surprising that they went after a fellow Repub.

The only conclusion that I can proffer is that Renzi must not have been well favored by his fellow Repubs, though I am not at all sure why.

Either way, he IS still a crook, and the state is well rid of him.

I don't understand­...serious­ly. Why is Renzi (a Republican) saying that the leak was for political purposes - why was the WH against Renzi? Wasn't he one of their own or was there another Republican candidate in the race. This is very confusing to me, someone please explain.

That everything which took place during the Bush administration was for the purpose of GOP political gain. Every agency of the government, from the EPA, FDA, FCC, Justice Department, Defense Department, et al, was used to benefit the GOP.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, Rove, and others, should see prison time.

If Obama doesn't pursue that, he is abdicating his constitutional obligations, and deserves prosecution himself.
