It will make it harder to pitch warming when we are feeling the colder fall in October.

And then they will say that the directive to do this was in the health care reform bill proposed by the Democrats and scream bloody m.u.r.d.e.r!!

Public support for global warming is dying, like that of health care, which is the reason for the delay and ultimate obliteration of both.

People ignore the hysteria and focus on the expenditures to fix things unseen and unbroken and rightly put it to rest.

May the government return once again to a policy of taking care of what is rather than trying to create legislative legacies for themselves against problems that don't exist.

Cap and trade is a hoax. Al Gore has invested in a company that is involved in the trading platform for trading carbon credits. Al Gore is also involved in venture capital firms that will make money from research, installation and other aspects of alternative energy.

Electricity will be more expensive.

In the meantime, are Senators, Congressman and President Obama doing anything to stop trading in commodity futures, derivatives and credit default swaps???

On Sunday, 60 Minutes, had an article that said " for most of the 20th Century, derivatives and credit default swaps were illegal. They are bets; like gambling." !!!

The economy is in a mess because of the repeal of our laws in 2000 ( which was signed into law by former President Clinton.)

Wake up America.

The headline should read: the traitors in the senate delay vote on the largest tax increase in history.

If these people really wanted to do something about the environment they would curb corporations that are destroying the environment, gut the coal industry, and fund hydro electricity, solar power, wind power, and the research of safer nuclear energy. these people are lying criminals.

From the pic, why is she trying to look like the Stella Toddler character from the Carol Burnett Show?

Why a cap n trade system? I mean if CO2 is so potent why not just a cap with no trade doesn't trading mean more CO2 to be released?

That's all right. We're building the levees around Florida in expectation of their procrastination.

I'm okay with a little delay. One month either way isn't a game-changer. Healthcare is on deck.

Indeed. Lets get the big things done well, not fast and illogical.
10:48 PM on 08/31/2009
Yep, we're all terrified . . .

I'm sure a bill that would just drive everything overseas would make a difference besides sending even more jobs overseas.

I was a global warming denier until I saw data that mars is heating up. Mars was doing just fine until we sent two solar power rovers up, and now it's heating up too.

Mankind is very destructive on a planets heating and cooling cycle.

Those rovers were gas powered . . . and SUVs!

We need to put the climate change bill on the back burner for now. We must focus all our energy on getting the healthcare bill passed (which we will do.)

I think Speaker Pelosi wasted alot of effort in getting the climate bill thru the house over the summer. She should have been getting the healthcare bill thru instead. It is much more pressing.
10:51 PM on 08/31/2009
Once people realize that the climate bill will jack up their energy big time, they'll know who is to blame and they'll look like the Rs right now and the big kicker . . .

It won't change our climate one bit :)

Cap n trade is a hoax by the rich on the rest of us. They are creating wealth out of nothing.

Who will be the winners. Goldman Sachs, Bank of America. Some may think Al Gore. But he is just campaigning to sell his company to Wall Street

If Al Gore really believed in Global warming why would he live in a mansion, ride in limos and continue to fly around the world in private jets
09:43 PM on 08/31/2009
Wealth and support for climate change is not an either/or situation. He doesn't fly around in private jets, he takes commercial flights. My best friend sat next to him a few months back. Where are you getting this moonjuice, and more to the point, why on earth are you believing it?

BTW, my family has been in the aviation business for generations, and the effect of aviation on the climate is one of the top issues facing the industry today. We take it very seriously. Many companies are designing and building carbon-neutral aircraft; there's even a small electric plane on the market today; the Sonex.

According to Sen. Kerry, in an article posted on this site today:
"Make no mistake: catastrophic climate change represents a threat to human security, global stability, and -- yes -- even to American national security....Worldwide, climate change risks making the most volatile places even more combustible. The bottom line is that failure to tackle climate change risks much more than a ravaged environment: It risks a much more dangerous world, and a gravely threatened America."

In the face of IMMINENT GLOBAL CATASTROPHY, he cannot get his bill to committee in time?
He didn't anticipate the death of a death-bed dwelling long-time friend and colleague?
Barbara Boxer couldn't find her pantyhose?

WTF is wrong with the SENIOR Senator from MA--and one-time Presidential aspirant? Man, if this is the kind of leadership his 2004 candidacy promised--even the second Bush term looks not so bad.

YOU'VE DONE A HECK OF A JOB, KERRY.

The delay is so those that will steal the money in carbon credits can setup new offshore accounts since Switzerland is now off the table.
