Gmail Down: Here's How To Check Status

GMail appears to be back up and running and Google says the problem should be resolved.

Google says its email service is suffering a major disruption impacting the "majority" of its users. When GMail is down, you can go to Google's App Status Dashboard to check on the status of the application.

Woke up really early here in Hanoi to check for some important news and kept getting an error. Someone had mentioned that Viet Nam was having problems but I was online all day yesterday without a glitch. Totally panicked but did get through igoogle the first line of the topics which satisfied some of my curiosity it was a relief to come to Huff Po and realize that this was an international issue impacting global google not some problem with my connection. Ramble much? It's 6 am and gmail is working fine.

I can't understand the fascination with cross-platform information sharing. It benefits the parent companies not the consumer. All these sub-nets are bound to be used for misbehavior. Time to bring back the "real" internet.

Rahter than sharing all your data with google, for free, next time you buy a hard drive for 58 dollars, spend the extra 12 dollars and get an extra 200 gigabytes 'for free' then you dont have to share your data with google

wow. it's actually kind of scary how much some of us depend on it -- both in my own case, and the fact that this is even up as a newsworthy item. in the end, i was kind of relieved -- while it would suck for google to go down for a long time, at least a general outage means my own computer doesn't have a problem...

Yea, I was trying to send out emails to my customers and it just stopped working out of the blue. I was slightly annoyed. lol. Been working on those emails all day!
