What's Your Reaction?

Controversy surrounding interrogation techniques used by the CIA on terror suspects under the Bush administration has been astir since President Obama's declassification of internal CIA documents assessing such measures in recent weeks. The scandal, which has sparked a firestorm of questions regarding former Vice President Cheney's complicity in authorizing such measures, is nothing new. What is new, is the launch of an ad by the DNC that directly challenges Cheney's dubious claims that the CIA torture in question worked.

While Cheney has long been the subject of progressive scrutiny, his provocative antics have generally been ignored by the Democratic party. This bold ad points out Cheney's inaccuracy and culpability on multiple issues.

One question remains: Why is the DNC finally setting the record straight now?

I was in Paris in July and at Versailles Palace they had a retrospect of war through pictures and the lens.
Most we have all seen famous pictures of wars in World war 2 , Korea, Vietnam, the middle east.

And there in all it's glory for everyone to see Lyndy England with the infamous picture of her with an Iraqi on a leash.

Mr. Cheney may think it is alright but it is not. A picture says a thousand words and it becomes part of history, in this case a metaphor for Bush administration.

And lets not forget if he were still VP we'd be hearing something to the effect of: "If we reform health care we will leave ourselves open to another 911 type attack"

Never in my life have I seen such a corrupt and criminal vice president of these United States.

Way to go DNC! Maybe they can also emphasize Dick Cheney's cowardly record of draft deferments and war-mongering.

The father of our country would have court marshaled Dick

"Should any American soldier be so base and infamous as to injure any [prisoner]. . . I do most earnestly enjoin you to bring him to such severe and exemplary punishment as the enormity of the crime may require... for by such conduct they bring shame, disgrace and ruin to themselves and their country."
-- Washington; Sept. 14, 1775

"Treat them with humanity, and let them have no reason to complain of our copying the brutal example of the British Army in their treatment of our unfortunate brethren who have fallen into their hands,"
-- Washington; following the Battle of Trenton 1776

"Not only your Officers, and Soldiers have been treated with a Tenderness due to Fellow Citizens, & Brethren; but even those execrable Parricides [traitors] whose Counsels & Aid have deluged their Country with Blood, have been protected from the Fury of a justly enraged People."
- Washington; letter to his British counterpart, Aug19 1775

I love it, thanks for posting that. Too bad we don't have a media to dig up relevant words from our Founders and make them known.

Nice concept but is 30 seconds really long enough? I don't even think 30 minutes would be, maybe 30 hours!

The funny thing is, a Public Option will not effect the coverage that people who receive Medicare, but will effect the care that those under 65 will have access to. Is Grandma trying to pull the plug on juniors healthcare? Is Grandma really the one on the "Death panel?

I like it.

Now do something about heath care reform. Sixty percent of seniors are against a "public option" - do they even know what medicare is? Tell the Dems to do something about the "doughnut hole" and that will get them on board.

"When it comes to Cheney, one of the most incompetent vice-presidents in the country's history, with a record of two grotesquely botched wars, war crimes and a crippling debt..."

A Criminal Then, A Criminal Now.
It Is Time To Prosecute Cheney.

Never, ever forget that the 9/11 attacks happened on the Bush/Cheney watch. Bush and Cheney were warned nine months prior to the 9/11 attacks that such attacks were being planned. Cheney had five deferments from serving in the VietNam War. Just as he let others do his fighting for him, he let others do his torturing for him. His buddies became very, very rich from the war in Iraq. KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton electrocuted 18 American soldiers due to shoddy work practices in Iraq. Cheney is not presidential material.

Bush/Cheney were not in office nine months before 9/11. Try again.

??? What does that have to do with anything? They let it happen. Actually engineered it to tell the truth. How about a real investigation?

OK...8 months and 9 days. Splitting hairs doesn't change the fact that they ignored warnings.

Buildin # 7 of the WTC was never hit, except by outside pieces of debris that shouldn't have been a threat to its main structural integrity. Yet, it imploded 3 hours after the attack, in perfect symetry. A well set up explosive chatge set in there could not have done it more perfectly.
Wait a minute... Why did that happen? Who did it? What else did they know? Doesn't make sense, does it?

Also, why were there absolutely no pieces left of the plane that hit the pentagon? Why was there no sign of the wings' impact on the building?

.

It was not the Dems who kept the campaign going after the election was over. The Republicans just couldn't accept the results of a legitimate election and so they escalated their attack mode. Witness the anti-Obama ads that have been running on television since the inauguration. Not anti-liberal ads. Anti-Obama ads. Finally the Dems are fighting back, and I'm contributing to them exactly for that purpose.

Why now? Simple - Op-Ed in NYT calling for Cheney to run for Pres in 2012. Great time to get started nipping that horrific idea in the bud.
