Ticks me off. NYC is filled with Chinese Japanese Restaurants. Menchanko tei on 55th between 5th and 6th is now Chinese. I always ask if the sushi chef is Japanese before I'll agree to sit down.

Agree, I almost always go with a friend who knows his way around these places, and if he cant speak the fish cuisine specific Japanese to the chef, we dont sit down.

These cultural imposters are fishes, pretending to be whales, almost literally.­..
