Tony Perkins Accuses Obama Of Falsely Using Bible's Scripture To Promote Health Care Reform (VIDEO)

Ed Schultz had the director of the Family Research Council, a conservative organization of evangelicals, on his show tonight to discuss whether or not we having health care cover all Americans is a moral obligation. While Schultz believes it is indeed a moral obligation, the group's director, Tony Perkins, hedges. Perkins claims that we need to do what we can to protect the weakest among us, yet we don't need a public option because it's the duty of the people to take of each other and themselves, not the government.

While the two men debate health care and morality, Perkins takes a shot at President Obama, accusing him twisting scripture to fit a secular purpose:

The President and others are using scripture and applying it to the State when it's really not to be applied to the state. There's a double standard here. When a conservative uses scripture the media goes into convulsions, saying they're trying to create a theocracy. When the liberals use it, they just report it. I guess cause they know they don't mean it.
