Ashley Dupre, Spitzer Call Girl, Lashes Out At Critics, Book Publishers

Ashley Dupre, the call girl entangled in former-Gov. Eliot Spitzer's sex scandal, lashes out at critics and the media in a new blog post on Global Grind.

Dupre writes that while she's happy that Spitzer, who will be an adjunct professor at City College in the fall, is seemingly moving on with his life, she has been unable erase the stain of scandal from her own name.

The struggling singer claims not have "made a dime" on the affair, and takes the publishers who had offered her book deals, only to rescind them, to task:

Did this hit too close to home for you because your husband cheated on you with an escort? I will write the book regardless and do it for the right reasons.

Dupre also takes issue with being called "the woman who brought down the Governor," saying:

I didn't call the tabloids, I didn't blow the whistle and I didn't save "the dress." I did nothing to shine a light on my indiscretions or to "out" anyone else.

Dupre started blogging for Global Grind after becoming friendly with Russell Simmons, who helped create the site, and whom Dupre considers a "mentor."

Meanwhile Spitzer, who has been rumored to be considering a return to politics, has recently been edging back into the spotlight with television appearances and an outing to a Yankees game with wife Silda.

"The oldest profession on Earth" would not exist absent the demand. While I wouldn't exactly say that prostitution is a victimless crime - there are spouses and children (or not) - it is between the parties involved.

I will not pass judgement on either of them. Good luck to both. Governor Spitzer, I hope you got your money's worth. Ms. Dupree, I think you got a fair price, from what I've seen and heard.

And you moralizers out there, leave God's judgement to God - it ain't your business!

I am amazed at the lack of respect, that is offered for this former call girl by the comments here on huff post. Regardless of whether I agree with her on her comments (I don't know anything about the inside story and frankly I don't care either), she deserves the same respect any other human being.

Just because the girls used to be a call girl, doesn't make her less valuable than anyone else. Be it a doctor lawyer or a barista. Everyone has their profession and being a call girl was hers.

How that makes her less credible than anyone else is a puzzle to me. I find it also strange, that the "open minded", "tolerant" and "liberal" people here make such narrow minded comments.

She's just pissed off because her 15 minutes of fame never really happened. There was no mammoth book deal, no talk show appearences, no reality show, no standup tour, no movie roles, no TV roles etc., etc..
