The fact that a 51 year old male can grow that kind of hair is impressive - my hat is ON because of you!

Don't get me wrong, he is very nice looking-for his age but ...has anyone noticed that he has been 50-or 51 ever since LOTR movies were out. Now, I remember back in1995 in a Detail Mag that he was 45 then. Hey, Viggo, if you are over 60, just say so man, you look good for your age.

You are incorrect about Viggo Mortensen's age. Two separate Internet sources say his birthdate is 10-20-58, so he is just short of 51. That's why he looks good for over 60, because he ISN'T. The Guardian did a story on him earlier this year and said he was 50. The muscle tone in his face also suggests he is 50, not 60. It would be slacker if he were 60. But even in 10 years, he will still be gorgeous. Love his acting AND his political views. The long hair, not so much, but the problem is that it's in his face in this picture. He also wore long hair as Aragorn, when his hair revealed his entire face. If he pushed it off his face, it would look fine.

Those are Internet sources, but those even said at the time he was 49 years-old. LOTR movies came out during 2001-2003, so actually that would put him in the 60 year-old range. Now outside the internet sources, the periodical I remember reading was an article from Details mag in 1995. He was begining to become noticed because of his roles in Crimson Tide (Gene Hackman, Denzel Washington) and The Prophecy (Christopher Walken) when he played the Devil. Now unless I misread the statement, they claimed the man was 45 at the time. He has been fifty ever since Hildago and then 50 on Eastern Promises, 50 in a History of Violence and Appolossa (very good films by the way) when will he pass 50.

I'm always amused when people still think that actors can pretend false ages in this day and age, especially when they attended school in the U.S. and have children born here and whatnot. His ex-wife has interviewed about Viggo's age when they married and when their child was born. The man's birthdate as reported on imdb and wikipedia is correct. He will turn 51 later this year. He is not sixty.

Love Viggo! I think he is cool enough to have his hair long. I've always liked him for speaking out against the war. He is a gutsy actor.

He is one of the few men his age who can pull it off. I like it!

I know he's a talented actor, but he's just not my cuppa tea. I think he looks like he's auditioning for one of the crones in Macbeth. I also wondered all the way through LOTR why he couldn't borrow some soap and shampoo from the Elves. They always had nice fluffy hair and and he always looked like he was dragged behind a wagon. Again, I think he's a great actor. He was wonderfully creepy in "History of Violence."

Actually Peter Jackson shot a scene of him showering in horseurine and potpourri, getting a perm and sharing makeup tips with Cate Blanchett, but it was cut for some reason. Its probably on the DVD extras.

And Viggo rocks! Come back to Denmark, Viggo, you´re our national hero!
