My word, socialism works better than capitalism. From the outside, the US government looks like a blundering and inept behemoth incapable of taking care of its own citizens while its elected officials and corporate CEOs stuff their wallets. In the US, greed prevails. The country lacks soul and spirit.
The improvement is probably because they have a better health care system in Canada than in the United States. Good health promotes prosperity.
It's important to note that this is almost entirely a result of the stellar job former liberal Finance Minister Paul Martin* did in the long-lived Jean Chretien liberal government. Martin eliminated the deficit, paid off much of the debt, and firmly resisted the anguished screams of our banks, who were all convinced they'd DIE if we didn't toss the regulations that kept them from joining the party down south.
*also former PM, but great finance ministers NEVER make good (or usually even merely comptetent) heads of state, although they all think the opposite.
Seconded.
These figures still do not reflect actual numbers of unemployed, because nearly a third of all workers are contract and entreprenuerial workers. They make up the largest percentage of workers in the western provinces and in British Columbia make up nearly half of the adult work force. This segment had once been the driving force for high technology in the province. The conservatives under Harper still refuses to allow these workers to get unemployment insurance.
This is another falacious survey full of holes put out by the banks and trusts that do all they can to crush small business.
Ah yes, and they did it while tightly regulating their banking and insurance industries, eschewing adjustable rate mortgages and "liar loans", levying higher taxes in exchange for better social services, providing universal health care, and balancing budgets and paying down debt for fifteen years. Gawd, who would want to be like them?
It has become embarrassing to be an American..
Health care for all...yup.
America is in decline..i
There still is not financial regulation
These countries have government funded elections.
Until we wake up expect to see us in decline.
People need to do the research on government funded elections and the connection to universal health care.
But oh no, not the U.S.
The Obama campaign alone cost 1 billion dollars only so we can watch him like every other administration be bought by lobbyists.
Same for Congress.
I don't want representatives. I want major issues put on a ballot and we just vote directly. Let Congress pass bills to name roads. They can have food fights over things that do not matter.
And their dollar is climbing against the greenback. AND none of their banks needed bailouts. Darn socialists. How they manage to persevere in the face of all their healthcare-related suffering is beyond me.
And Our economy actually rebounded 0.1 percent
It's easy when your citizens are constantly dropping dead from being forced to wait months to see a doctor.
I also have good word that no one over 55 is left alive up north.
My father is 70, my mom is 69.
My ex-husband's grandmother (Gigi to my boys) is 95 and grandfather (Poppa) is 98.
Do you really want to be stupid enough to stand by your lies?
That's not as true as it used to be . With global warming, we're running out of ice floes to maroon them on.
lol.... think those people living up north have longer life expectancy than us.... maybe you should consider changing your name to stupid goat....
It's all because of an accounting trick....t
Our financial institutions are more regulated too.
Dealing with small local businesses helps too.
Gremany,Fr
Yup, that about sums it up. The US is destroying itself from within. Al Qaeda must be quite happy and they don't have to do a thing but sit back and watch.
That's been their great success...
