I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Seattle Rally

I have personally never been to Seattle, Washington, but I am reliably informed that it is a major American city that enjoys many of the technological amenities of modern life, including news organizations with real live reporters and cameras and internet access and even a major newspaper called the Seattle Times. So, there's really no reason why the media couldn't have reported on the fact that yesterday, 3,000 people attended a rally for health care reform in Westlake Park. According to one person who was there, though, no one could be bothered:

I've no idea where I was yesterday afternoon, but it couldn't possibly have been at an energetic, 3000-person strong pro-healthcare reform rally in Westlake Park, because I couldn't find even the tiniest mention of it in this morning's Seattle Times, so apparently, it never happened. And I have absolutely no idea where all those photos and videos on my camera came from.

It's like my own personal Twilight Zone.

Anyway, health care reform proponents: they exist and can be captured on film!

Supporters of health care reform need to let civility go out the window......the squeaky wheel is getting the oil.....We need to be a little more squeaky if we are going to bring about reform!!

I don't get it. He just won an election on this platform now he's acting like no one is supporting him. This is what he was put into office to do. And the media should be more fair - they never will be but they should be. Still can't figure out where the liberal media is ... sure doesn't seem that way.

What sells in our culture is sex, blood and celebrity. What they needed was Paris Hilton stark naked covered in red paint screaming Health Care Now to get any news coverage. Some crazy old cat ladies with their hair teased up rolling around in front of Wal-Mart would get immediate media coverage. Or, like we do here in the African-American communities of the northeast...call 911 that a young pretty white woman's been kidnapped..and let them stumble across the protest. We all know where our culture's priorites lay.

Almost every msm article I read talks about the contentious town halls and how the public turned against Obama's health care agenda in August. Exactly what the GOP hoped for when they delayed the bill till after recess and the media is the best partner they could hope for.

Although there have been many outpourings of support for health care reform, including the one this article is about, none have been covered. I have not seen one mention of the USA Today survey of two weeks ago that said over 70% of Americans favored having the choice of a public option.

With a few exceptions that speak to the choir (Schultz, Olbermann and Maddow), the msm is doing exactly what it did to us in the run up to the Iraq war. They are failing us. Massively. The fourth estate is a decrepit property these days, rotted from the inside out with ratings obsessed ghouls, lazy reporting and the disease of false equivalency---which is just fancy wordage for a good horse race.

In the end we will be doomed by the weakness of our press before we will be doomed by either party.

One would think that after the failure of the press leading up to the Iraq war the press would have woke up, but sadly it did not happen. In fact some who failed were rewarded. i.e. David Gregory.

This is why newspapers are going out of business and why cable and network news has become so irrelevant.

More and more people are looking to the internet for real news since the likes of the above are only after the sensational and the ugly. They obviously have no interest in what is good for the country or where the people of the country really stands.

Just as in covering the nation's going to war in Iraq, newspapers and cable and network news are only interested in reporting what they think will help big corporations and industry. Newspapers and cable and network news are complicit in frightening Americans and working toward the destruction of the nation and its people.

Newspapers and cable and network news are useless. They will not be missed when they are gone. Investigative, informative reporting is dead.

I guess it just isn't controversial to be FOR health care reform, therefore, it won't make the news because the news is only about controversy. Otherwise, it's just plain boring, evidently. That, or the MSM has a vested interest...

The invisible 3/4 majority. As usual, the media is directly responsible for our views of what is important and happening, while ignoring reporting the complete news. Anti-healthcare townhallers comprise a low percentage of our voting public, but watching the news, one would get the impression they are the entire population. 78% want reform, but where are they on our cable and local news, newspapers and news magazine. News is very slanted......for ratings.
