Emma Watson

Mail Online:

Emma Watson was mobbed by adoring fans as she began university in the U.S. --despite pleading to be treated just like any other student.

The 19-year-old actress, who plays Hermione in the Harry Potter films, barely had a moment to herself as she got to know fellow 'freshmen' at the prestigious Brown University in Rhode Island.

It's nice to see a young lady doing something constructive with her life, even in the face of exposure and notoriety. The rest of the young women in the industry should take note.

Miss Watson is a great role model for young women, IMHO.

She is a very nice person. I wish her the best of luck at school.

Emma is no fool. Her education to date has been first class.

-Dragon School - truly outstanding prep. school. One of the best.

-Oxford High School for Girls - outstanding independent day school full of daughters of Oxford dons.

Brown (and America) is fortunate to have her. Let her enjoy her education in peace.

A very smart and talented young girl, with a great sense of humour.

Good for her!

I hope that she majors in theater and does lots of Shakespeare, She will come out the other side of that so potent that Oscar will be chasing her down the street, And Tony, And Emmy.

Now, lets leave her alone to be a student, OK?

She is majoring in Literature, which, of course includes plenty of Shakespeare.
But having attended a well respected prep school in England, I'm sure she knows Shakespeare well.
I have a healthy jealousy of her. Young, successful and smart. The world is her oyster.

Best of luck to her. I've never read a HP book nor seen a movie, but if she can get into Brown then she has my support. Good for her.

The HP books are IMHO much better than the movies (although I think the movies are good). I normally don't read fantasy but after constant prodding from my daughter I started the HP series and couldn't put it down. Actually the first book is very close to the movie but starting with the second book there are a lot of details that are just too much to be captured in a film and that really make the books facinating. Rowling did an amazing job of creating a very believable alternate world and her attention to detail and especially the way things end up being resolved so logically with little details suddenly making sense and coming together was really amazing.

Anyone wondering if Emma Watson has the chops to attend Brown University, chew on this. Both of Emma's parents are lawyers, and Emma is a straight A student. Besides Brown has a theater department; she would be a shoe in.

Apparently, playing bookish Hermione on the Harry Potter films comes relatively easily to Emma. That's who she is.

I'd love to be in her study group. The rest of us would be stuck on some convoluted problem, and just in time Emma would come in and say, "I've got it! I was just in the library and ..."

Great. Another deserving American student pushed aside to make room for a foreign celebrity. They don't have universities in the U.K.?

I know you are kidding. Celebrity had nothing to do with it. I went to school with many foreign students, just as many Americans study abroad. Then of course there is foreign exchange where the students commit to a semester or two abroad. Quite frankly, I am surprised that she decided to come to an American University - apparently no one warned her that we are barbarians.

I doubt she'd have gotten in there if she wasn't Emma Watson. Not even perfect SAT's can guarantee Ivy League these days.

WTF? So no one should study abroad? Everyone should just stay in their own countries and not leave? wow. Even if she went to college in the UK, you'd be saying that she pushed out a deserving British student.

She was always pretty but she's morphed into a gorgeous young lady now! Huge props to her for going to college and following in the footprints of such female stars as Jodie Foster who also earned her degree!

I totally agree. I don't think there's anyone more beautiful out there. Her recent photos in the ads she is doing for Burberry attest to this:
