The war between the BBC and Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation escalated tonight when the BBC director general accused Murdoch's son James of being "desperately out of touch" for lambasting the corporation in a speech last month.

Britain: Whatever you do, do NOT allow the Murdochs to have any more power in your country. You can plainly see what they have done to ours. Be proud of your BBC. It's one of the only channels I watch here in the states.
The USA has been murdorked. The level of our political discourse is in the mud, thanks to the murdorks.

It is not up to me, sitting in the US and w/o the facts, to pass much judgement on BBC, one way or the other ('tho at the end of the day, it is FAR superior to ANY of our networks, cable or otherwise, ---our only hope is PBS and C-span. Having said that, this is laughable; the Murdoch family----now that the old man is sunsetting, is ultra slimey and out to control most of media (biz, film, internet, print)----you name it-----and James and his sister are particularly loathsome; I am making it a point to follow this perverse family and suggest others do also---
I wish the US had a BBC as well.

Van Jones resigned. Today Yosi Sergant, who was 34-year old communications director at the National Endowment for the Arts, was asked to resign.
Why?
He was trying to organize artists to support President Obama's national service program, “United We Serve.”
Glenn Beck stated this was Nazi behavior.
I understand many feel puzzled, but while we wait on answers let's be about ACTION, and donate to Color of Change (dot) org.
Color of Change (dot) org is working to remove Mr. Beck, who has used his program on National Fox News to spew racist rhetoric and lies to destroy people, who do not agree with his agenda cloaked in false conservatism. He is no true conservative.

Totally agree with Happylall. If the Brits let that virus get into their system and proliferate, they'll lose their country. their culture, their love for litterature and art. Next thing you know, Nick Griffin and his British National Party will be the official opposition. You guys are better than that.
From an expat Brit living in the U.S. Don't let Murdoch's son have his way. He is trying to increase his father's empire. Murdoch owns the tabloid rag called "The Sun" in the U.K. It often has similar articles as the New York Post which he also owns.
Murdoch is using the media to spread propaganda and creat divisions for his right-wing friends. This dispicable man should be sent in exile to Australia. LOL! That's where the British used to send criminals! That explains why Murdoch is immoral!!!

In Canada, the Canwest-Global Corporation (which follows Murdoch's business style like a remora) has launched a batch of attacks in the past few years at the CBC, complaining about it getting public funding, etc. It's now revealed that Canwest-Global has been in decline for a while.
It's sour grapes really. When your company only produces schlock and hype that people don't want to buy anymore, instead of doing something better it's cheaper to just smear the competition that has always had a better, if less flashy, product.

Old coot is married to a quite manipulative Chinese woman, the age of his children, and they have produced two small ones; she had Asia connections in media/comm.------a whole new gen. will help them cruise and take Asia-----always thinkin'. My only hope is that the ORIGINAL 3, I think, Murdoch adult kids will get in big fight w/ Chinese wifey when he goes to greener pastures and it will fall apart in some jolly fashion (tho all will always have $$)

In the event his Rupertship dies, where will his body be planted? The place which accepts his dead body will have the honor of being his country.
His Rupertship has been having trouble using nepotism to fill News Corp positions; one of his children bailed out to go back to Oz, James Murdoch is a clone of the NYT's Pooch Sulzburger. James is in a position to destroy News Corp & will do so post haste.
The winter of 2009-10 could be the winter of his Rupertships discontent because of James. It couldn't happen to more deserving people or a more deserving family.
Again, that ain't no reference to Obama.
