Flu Near You? iPhone App Finds Swine Flu

The "Outbreaks Near Me" application for iPhones collects and displays information about infectious diseases so users can find disease outbreaks--then run. Users can also play "disease detective" and report outbreaks to the HealthMap website, which shares updates on recent outbreaks around the world. The real-time information on flu could from the WHO and CDC, or "a nurse who just took on a patient with swine flu, or a mother who just found out two children in her daughter's playgroup have measles."

For ultimate safety, also download the "Offender App" so you can keep an eye on registered sex offenders nearby.
