While U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) has been pilloried for yelling at President Obama during his address to Congress Wednesday evening, one of his Republican colleagues has escaped public scrutiny for a less vocal protest.

Rep. John Shimkus, from Collinsville, Illinois, walked out on the President's health care speech before it was over.

The reason? Obama's tone wasn't cooperative and his ideas were not new, Shimkus' spokesman told the Tribune's Mark Silva.

"Congressman Shimkus was frustrated that the president was not offering any new ground and left with just minutes remaining in the speech,'' Shimkus spokesman Steven Tomaszewski explained to the Tribune.

An Associated Press photographer captured Shimkus on his way out of the speech.

Monday Oct 5th at 10:30 am I met with Congressman John Shimkus to discuss the issues with foreigners that pay No Gross Income Taxes or Tariffs on exports.

When I mention Tariffs he had NO IDEA what that was..

The Meeting was related to the urgent passage of our Horse slaughter prevention act Bill HR 503.
I let him speak first and he clearly stated he is for foreigners to come here and create jobs. Even if its killing horses weekly.

After listening to him I stated my facts and years of researching ,Investigating, Donating, creating programs to assist rescues, rescuing horses and giving them to people I knew wanted them and exposing these criminals that abuse and neglect these wonderful horses.

What made it good for me is that we had a witness documenting our meeting. We hit him with so many facts that he was literaly biting his lip and sweating. When I passed out our business cards and info he instantly started to grab it from me and the witness ask for it them.

Im now on another mission to expose these so called elected officals that fail to listen to the Majority of Americans that oppose Horse slaughter.

Should you like to help or get more info on other info relating to our American Horses I can be reached at phazzII@yahoo.com

Other facts and info can be obtained at www.SaveDaHorses.org and Kaufmanzoning.org

Shimkus claims that Obama had nothing new to say. But neither does Shimkus. He continues to spout what all the other Conservatives are saying.

He can state what he wants, but don't try and draw attention to something that you say he is doing all the while obviously doing it yourself.

Ridiculous.

this guy got a honorary degree from a leading catholic university and he has in the past claimed: The Bible says don’t worry about global warming? WTF???????

"Illinois Representative John Shimkus knows all he needs to know about climate change. It’s all in the infallible Bible. Here he is demolishing all of that silly science with a few phrases out of Genesis. Based on his expressions, he’s a hero in his own eyes. He’s got that look that he knows he will go to heaven. Don’t worry. There’s only going to be one worldwide flood and we’ve already had it. Case closed. Proceedings from the March 25, 2009 hearing of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Energy and Environment"

Republicans are whiners... they have no ideas themselves yet they protest other's ideas! They disrespect anyone who is not with them. I will never accept leadership from another Republican again!

You know, I just don't care much about cooperation. About finding common ground. Working accross the isle. I guess I've been exposed to the repubs and conservatives so long with the Bush presidency, that some of it did rub off on me.. that being the desire to impose my will and ideas on everyone else. What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. It's time for an uprising in this country, and it needs to come from the left.. not the whacko rednecks in Mississipi and Montana with their confederate flags and staff of AK-47's. I'm tired of them, all republican and their narrow views and ideas. I want to see them squashed. I want to see them crushed.

They actually think private business is the right way to go to ensure everyone's medical needs are met. That all these benevolent companies are willing to look out for everyone, the under privileged, the unemployed, the struggling. Because as you know, these benevolant companies and insurance companies have such a great track record looking out for the little guy. They aren't worried about profits, they want to do the right thing. Yeah right. I got a bridge to sell you in brooklyn.

I take my family at least 4 times a year to Collinsville to stay in one of the motels, when we visit the attractions of the St. Louis area. We eat in the restuarants, shop in area stores, buy gasoline at the many convienence stores there as well. We always wanted to spend a good share of our mini-vacation dollars in our home state, Illinois.....

....No longer am I going to spend a dime in Shimkus' district. I'm "walking out" on his district....only to drive through on I-55 to stay outside his district. We'll never stop there again. We'll never spend another dime in his district.

Mr. Shimkus, you make me ashamed!

Don't blame us here in Collinsville for Dimkus, blame the fact that his gerrymandered district runs up through central and eastern Illinois.

For my Congressman, a graduate of West Point ( thanks to his appointment by Rep Mel Price - a long time Democrat, first elected during the New Deal, and a long time power in the Congress ) to walk out on a speech by his Commander in Chief because he was "frustrated" is an inexcusable act of not only cowardice, but an act of disrespect for the office itself.

Why should any of us in his District continue to have any respect for him?

Frankly, Sen. Wilson and Sen. Shimkus actions were downright rude and disrespectful. If our leaders can't respect one another, what makes you think leaders of other countries are going to respect us or take us seriously? Even if we disagree, we still need to show solidarity. And I don't want a bunch of leaders who are going to have public temper tantrums representing me, either.
Just because the President doesn't agree and share their opinions on how this country should be ran, Wilson and Shimkus should at least be mature, responsible, and respectful enough to listen to the highest leader of our nation, hello, The President of the United States! We are all hurting and the President is working hard to help heal our wounds. We should at least do our part to make things better and not look for some reason to be contrary to the President. Rome was not built in a day.
