No matter how many or how few people in Iran remain dissatisfied with the state of affairs, so long as they show their green and voice their heartfelt longing for reform, the movement is alive.

This is something out of Jerry Springer. If something like this happened in the States, Father and transexual child would be on the television set spreading out their dirty laundry for all to peruse. I did not know that the second largest number of sex change operations are performed in Iran, and this is a strange cure for homosexuality. Not! This is pretty sad.
Hahaha are is this article saying that homosexuals have more rights (per se) in Iran than they do in the US. Better is it saying that Iran is more liberal than the US on this matter.
Sorry, but we still got Iran beat on the gay rights. Transexuals can marry in the States as heterosexuals couples do. Gays can marry in some parts of the U.S. which is better than Iran, where they don't have any legal protection at all.
I'm having trouble following your word structure, but the dangers of being homose.ual in US pale in comparison to what awaits gays in IRI. It's one of the many reactionary features of the theocracy.
Hmmm, I think I understand what you're saying, but NO. You're wrong if that's how you understand this article.
Homosexuality is NOT allowed in Iran. In fact, they are killed for being gay.
But their healthcare pays for the sex change. Like on the government dime. And I really didn't know transexuas could marry with no problem here but to be honest I never thought of it.
It is not the FIRST transsexual marriage in Iran. Sex change operation in Iran has long been permitted since Ayatollah Khomeini. Islamic clerics do not have any opposition to such an operation. They regard trassexuality as a biological disorder. What they can not accept is homosexuality, that is seen as an intended behavior and Islamic Sharia categorizes it as a great sin.
Several years ago, I read in an interview with an Iranian surgeon that a transsexual member of the Revolutionary Guard married to a cleric after sex change operation.
After sex change operation, transsexuals change their name, and live with their new identity.
"Etemaad newspaper reported that the two had been friends for 12 years after meeting at school and had later studied at the same university, where their close relationship had been well known to fellow students."
After reading the article, I wonder if this was just a way for two female lovers to be together since transsexualism is permitted in their society, but not homosexuality.
That is the sae conclusion as in the article.
Yup, very last sentence, "Critics have suggested that some of those changing sex are not true transsexuals but gays or lesbians who feel forced into the operation by social pressure."
I'll admit it shows some flexibility more known in Shi'ism, but the the aim is still the same against homosexuality. They just found a "compromise" - and please don't get me in trouble for saying that transgender community. I'm only saying in this particular social climate.
I also don't want to mar by name by making any comparison whatsoever to all legitimate LGBT issues, but Khomeini had a lot of "interesting" theories on a whole lot of sexual issues.
I would urge Iran to send reps to USA to tour red states and try to bring democracy to America since this marriage would never be allowed here.
They may not be allowed to bring their guns but I would hope that they could make some progress with red state governors like Rick Perry in Texas and others.
Comedy notwithstanding, transsexualism is a part of, not an exception to, IRI's hatred of homose.xuality. They could wind up simply teaching Rick Perry a few gay bashing tricks unfortunately.
My prediction-star crossed huffpo Stockholm Syndrome Iran sympathizers bray about the superior gay rights in Iran vs. the US.
(never mind the hangings of gays last year I suppose?)
Wrong. There are no gay rights in Iran.
