Harry Smith

CBS "Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith is home sick — and he likely has swine flu.

Smith joined his "Early Show" colleagues from his apartment, where he said he fell ill over the weekend and added that he feels "miserable."

"Sunday morning I got up and thought maybe I had an extra glass of wine, perhaps," Smith said from his apartment. "Later in the day I started to feel feverish and then really achy."

CBS Medical Correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton told Smith that it was to be considered "H1N1 until proven otherwise."

Smith's fever is a bit lower than traditional swine flu cases, but his other symptoms suggest that he has the virus.

I had a really bad flu last year in November, the worst of my life. My sister caught it too. Now I wonder whether it was a variation of the swine flu. I have never had a chest cold before in my life, and yet I developed bronchitis and a cough that wouldn't go away. It took over a month for me to get over the cough, it took my sister 2 months. I took no antibiotics, or cough medicine, or even aspirin, I only took lots of vitamin C and I drank lots of hot soups and teas.

People who have had it report that you do feel terrible and it takes weeks to get over. It will be interesting to see how he does and you have to give him credit for being the first to report it live.

H1N1 is being treated just like every other flu. Get rest and drink plenty of liquids. Doctors aren't even testing for it anymore. They are refusing to do swab tests on patients now, unless the patients are otherwise compromised. This is probably why the H1N1 numbers reported aren't through the roof. In any case, it isn't cancer. It's just a flu.

The media thinking they are bigger than they are.

Panic!!! EVERYONE PANIC!!!!

Harry thought it was a hangover but now he is feverish, and we have to consider it swine flu until proven otherwise?????

Why? Because he has body aches? Fact is we don't know what he has. Glad he stayed home, but come on....we have to ASSUME it is H1N1??? What is that phase about the word "assume?"

The media is irresponsible.

Harry, praying for your speedy recovery and healthy return. Please Harry disregard all the heartless people who can't find anything nice to say to a person when they're sick.

People please if you aren't interested in the story and you can't say something nice to a sick person then take that option of not clicking on. Or click off if it doesn't interest you, but to just be nasty for the sake of it is just wrong. H1N1 isn't specific to any one type and we don' t know where it is, where its going and how hard it will hit. I pray none of you cruel people have to experience it inspite of your cruel behavior.

If you are going to stick a 30 second commercial in front of the post at least get enough bandwidth to get it transmitted in only 30 seconds. Got no comment on the post - wasn't willing to wait for it.
