Wall Street

nytimes.com:

O.K. Oliver Stone already has a screenplay for "Wall Street 2," the sequel to his culturally resonant 1987 dissection of financial ruthlessness. He has been busy shooting it in Manhattan. If he has second thoughts about the project, The New York Times's Gretchen Morgenson writes, he might consider these alternative plotlines:

Not sure the movie is really required. The events of the last year has been the best Wall St swindle ever.

I want to see Wall St. 3 - the trailer will be flames shooting down the street, engulfing the bull.

It will be a semi-war movie, with the citizens of the US and what's left of the US military battling in the streets of NY against XE security forces fighting on behalf of Goldman Sachs...

The way things are going - it just may be that Obama will not be around for Wall Street II.

I'm getting tired of Obama doing nothing. He promised us Wall street reform, Heathcare reform, and more jobs and we got NOTHING except more debt.

hat tip to http://www.iamned.com

the economy is rigged against middle class, anyway

The wonderful managers and execs on Wall ST should be sure their Golden Parachutes are properly packed. There will be no further bail outs, the next time it is more likely to be push outs. These seemingly unrepentant perpetrators of poorly poised and executed executive policies and programs will find an America fed up with them and their companies. Beware! Beware! Beware.

The excesses of the 1980s are a joke. Greed has increased exponentially over the last 20 years. Greed alone wouldn't be so bad if they hadn't been so creative about squeezing current wealth out of other peoples future wealth.

Give the history books a quick overview. This is not the 'MODERN' generation's problem, this goes back to the first time more than one proto-human gathered in a group. There are always some percentage who make their career by sucking as much of the group assets into their own bloated tummies, even if it means everyone starves over the winter. They cannot conceive of teamwork or being responsible to an entity larger than their fat heads. (and their henchmen who justify their actions by the lack of societal reaction)
There are those who shake their heads and wring their hands over what this awful person is doing.
And thankfully there are those who step up and take action on behalf of the entire community.
I believe Obama is trying to do the latter job, but he is hindered by the enormous number of social ticks and hand wringers that get in the way.

The bastards want you to give up. Thats why they bought the news media. All of us are bombarded with the message of hopelessness. Fight back and take back our world. It's pretty clear what little things we can all do. Write letters, vote with your dollars, go to demonstrations. These are low cost activities that can make a difference. Look at the lady who made a youtube video about her credit card rates! Or the guy who wrote the United Breaks Guitars song. We are in control, we just have to realize it.
Phew...

Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen. Where have I heard that name lately?

There are three interlinked stories that are vitally important for even the moderately informed to read if they want to know something about his summer and the time that Obama has wasted. Granted we don't know what has been going on behind the scenes and that is generally where most of the hard work of politics and reform are handled but still there seems to have been little done while the right wing cra.zies were out running a muck that got done. Now we are stranded somewhere between health care reform that few understand and financial reform that promises to be even more arcane and incomprehensible. What are derivatives anyway? Just what the right likes best: issues that few know very much about so they can rail against the communists hiding behind every chair in D.C.

Here are a couple of outlandish banking stories that show little has changed.

The first is bemoaning the fact that nothing has changed on Wall Street since the crash:

The second shows that for every risk there is an investor:

Wall Street Pursues Profit in Bundles of Life Insurance

And finally we have the story by Frank Rich showing just how much time has been squandered:

We don't need any more movies about greed, Oliver. We have the real life examples of republikans.

Americans must enjoy being reamed. This article even suggests they should just relax and enjoy it.
Obviously people prefer viewing the truth from a safe distance though rather then directly confronting it.

Billions and billions for the rich but not one dollar in health care for the middle and lower classes.

The rich tyrants of America have won.

I think there has been a sickness in our modern society that has made people lazy and greedy, and which promotes and encourages bad behavior models.
Our schools and churches have all sucked in to the morass of sinful capitalism, where the ends justify the means, and cheating is a big business.

Where is the honor in that? There is no honor left in America.
I think that America is coming to an end, it has been ruined.
Another great country will have to be built instead.
Thanks for all your efforts, patriots.
It was a valiant fight, but we lost.
