What's Your Reaction?
Jon Stewart

The "Daily Show" returned last night after a three-week hiatus, the longest in the show's history. While August was a surprisingly eventful month, Stewart focused on the events of the past week, taking on Joe Wilson for his outburst at the president and Fox News for its coverage of the most recent tea party protest in DC.

He began that segment by showing clips of Sean Hannity and Michelle Malkin criticizing Bush's protesters, calling them "extremists" throwing a "temper tantrum." He juxtaposed these words with their laudatory coverage of the protest this weekend noting, "In Fox's defense you can't really sh*t on a party you've thrown."

Stewart went on to criticize Glenn Beck for his 9/12 project saying it's nothing more than "impotent rage."

FOX satirizes itself...Jon Stewart just lets them talk.

What I love about SNL--and Jon Stewart--is they don't even have to change a word of what the right-wing mob says. They just QUOTE them and it comes out like an inspired comedy team wrote them.

They do it to themselves.
(Sadly, they were doing to the whole country for 8 years.)

It all makes sense now.

Beck hates himself. Beck said he thinks "Obama hates white people". Now he says it was a good thing Obama got in. Beck's mentality is that of a self hating Alzheimers patient

Beck and the teabag movement? I've seen bigger movements in my toilet. In Re: the 912 event. I went to a march on DC in Sept. 07 and there were about the same number of protesters as the 912--50-70 thousand. Our march was orgnized mainly by email and word of mouth and some organizations but the Goopers festival of h@te and ignorance had the full force of supposedly all powerful ClusterFOX, their lying mouthpieces, corporations, major lobby groups and crazy congress monsters screaming 24/7 and lots and lots of money and that is all they could come up with?

Stewart's going to hurt himself if he keeps slamming Beck. Beck's not a little guy...

Intellectually speaking, Jon Stewart is a towering giant compared to Glenn Beck. The only thing big about Beck is his f@t gut and puffy cheeks.

You got to be kidding. Beck is only a threat to himself. The only folks pleased with Beck is the far right. And we all know where the far right is at this time.

Way to go Stewart. Beck deserves such treatment. He should not get any air time from any channel.

Absolutely correct he should be censored, just like everyone who does not follow the PC line. Just like they did in Germany. Liberals can dish it out but when it comes to taking it they are the biggest whimps in in history.

Liberals can't take it? We took it for eight years. It been less than a year and conservatives have already broke out the false outrage, blind racism, circular logic, and company driven false protest march that no one goes to or cares about. When the Iran election controversy started conservatives were saying the president should say he supported the protesters. When only 4 months earlier they were seriously talking about bombing the suddenly freedom loving Persians. Conservatives have shown they have no brains, now with all their manufactured outrage they have shown that they have no balls either.

P.S. We still got more than 3 years left.

I'm not buying it. it's the other way around. Conservatives can dish it but can't take it, that's why they always cow people down. That means, shout over people when they're talking, it's a bully tactic.

Just like in Germany?
Did you miss the part where the Germany you're thinking of was a Right-Wing Nut Colony? And it villainized...liberals.

Maybe throwing words around isn't such a good idea--if you don't know the concepts behind them.

I don't think you understand what the word "censor" means. A guy being thrown off every major cable news channel for being a dangerous raving lunatic is not censorship, it's common sense. Saying that someone like Beck deserves the right to air their views is awfully similar to the idea of the Fairness Doctrine that the right despises so much.

Come back and talk to us when you get a clue.

flinging of tea??? geez

Yesterday was the 222 anniversary of the signing of the Constitution. Not one word of it......

It's sad that over 222 years ago the flinging of tea, as you put it, sparked mans greatest experiment...... An unprecedented event in human history where a civilized society attempts govern itself.....

today, the flinging of tea is used to mock those that took to the streets in PEACEFUL protest to defend the principles of those who signed the Constitution 222years ago.....

the tragic irony in all this is that you take pride in being on the wrong side of history.... Do you take pride in your ignorance as well????? Try defending your position with relevant arguments.... Attacking your opponents with empty catch phrases and chieces is a fools game.... and many are proving themselves fools these days.....

defend your point of view with relevant, thoughtful debate.... your opponents are using principles laid out by men who were a lot smarter than you or I. Men who developed their principles by studying other men before them who were smarter than you or I.....

What is the foundation your ideology is built on?? I challenge you to defend it....

stop being so predictable.... Breaking out into laughter and name calling as soon as that little treadmill in your head comes to a complete stop.... Usually for one of two reasons....either by the limits nature has put on it.... or by the sheer weight of logic of your opponents arguments...

The analogy to the Boston Tea party is a joke.

The Boston Tea Party was a protest about taxation by England without representation in Parliament.

We have representation, voting, and and enduring democracy.

Conservative republicans don't care about government spending, as long as it is spent for war and not trying to make the lives of Americans better.

really???? did you vote on the tarp money??? did you vote on the stimulus??? Are you going to vote on this health care bill which is going to cost billions if not trillions??? Did you vote on the cap and trade which???

i mean i don't get it.... you say the analogy of the Boston Tea party is a joke.... than you describe how Americans were being taxed without any say.....

That is exactly what is happening today......... the overwhelming majority of people don't want the government spending more money.... they are sending this country off the cliff..... hyper inflation is going to hit and your money is going to be worth less because of the governments actions.... that is also a tax..... plus we are in so much debt how are the people going to pay it back..... and Americans aren't voting on any of these measures....

You call the analogy a joke..... but than describe it to a tee!

Please provide a link showing your outrage when Bush/Cheney ignored the 221st anniversary of the signing of the Constitution...how about the 220th, 219th, ad nauseum.
You're mock outrage is pathetic.
further, its astonishing that you take pride in being on the wrong side of history. These 1773 boston protesters were tools for the well speaking upper class much like Joe The "My Name's Not Really Joe , I'm just a buddy of Milken and McCain" Plumber was a tool for the wing nuts. the 1773 upper class funnled the anger of the lower class away from the greed of the slave owing patriarchal elites and towards Britain, writing "independence documents" that would secure their fortunes and create a class of wage earners and slaves for the land owners.
You defend a system that is marketed as free capitalism but is really socialism for the wealthy with table scraps of manipulated capitalism to the rest of humanity.
My ideology is built on the foundation of recognition of human dignity. When tiny segments of the population hoard treasures through deciept and violence while millions of innocent children starve in squalor and disease, then the some of the treasure should be forcibly taken from the greedy to pay for the cures the ills of the innocent and less fortunate. The greedy will still have plenty of shiny metal coins to drool over after we take some for the health of humanity.

Would that be the peaceful protest to defend the principles of "we think Obama is a muslim and the muslims are taking over America"?

Or is it maybe the peaceful principle of "Obama is a fascist"?

Or maybe just the peaceful right to dribble on themselves and rant while carrying signs made with crayon.

"Predictable" is people like you trying to use our great American principles and history--to justify petty, small, selfish, and utterly moronic whining. Whining that, by the way, is NOT shared by the vast majority of Americans, who voted for a return to American constitutional responsibilty and moral values by voting for President Obama after enduring 8 years of travesty.

Trust corporate or trust the government? At least government proports to be interested in working peole.

Know any crips or bloods or 18th street gang members? Why aren't they more politically active, like showing up at the teabaggers rallies passing out white robes and cowls to bigots with signs that insult the President.

Washington DC Teabagger Party

Consensus says: 75,000 attendees, tops.

75,000 or 2,000,000: What's the difference.

Next event: The Louisiana Rusty Trombone Party.

New slogan: "Trrruuussst us, yeah, that's the ticket!

(with judgment like that, I'd be afraid of the government too)

In what way was it pasted as being violent? The number of arrests or lack there of has absolutely nothing to do with the fairly obvious fact that the majority of the people seen teabagging on both networks seem to be very fired up. Most of them have decided to mettle little in fact and more in fetishized images of communism and socialism. They make comparisons based on time lines or events in history that they deeply misconstrue, as evidenced by their cute signs and filthy speech. Jon Stewart doesn't exactly have to imagine or photoshop all these images to build a convincing argument. He is a political comedian, and if he just so happens to not support these wayward ideologies then he is dismissed as a propagandist tool. Sometimes watching different videos organized in the way Stewart does makes all the more sense why they should or should not be looked serious or funny or sad or vile. Sean Hannity being hypocritical is nothing new, and that's the point. It continues and it has no boundaries. No one took America. Obama has done nothing new enough to warrant such a huge and misguided response from the "true americans". Eight months in, still damage control.

Jon Stewart stopped being funny when he start his tantrums over Gore losing. Now he's only focused on bashing the right. Not a really good position to be in when you're a political comedian. He's been having to fake ire at the Obama admin, and it comes off as very fake. It's a good thing Conservatives started making some noise, he was going to have to get a new job.

Jon Stewart is proving to be nothing more than a propagandist tool......

We can all cut, paste and edit clips to portray any message we please.... but there is no honor in trying to paint something as something it wasn't..... If this was the violent, hate crowd they all want us to believe it was.... how come no one was arrested....????

Why don't you guys start debating the issues rather than trying to define the opposition..... You guys are really starting to look like fools....

hahaha.... as if you would recognize sanity if it slapped you in the face....

-you follow a president that thinks 200,000 jobs lost this month is an improvement because last month there were 700,000 jobs lost....

-you follow a leader that whines about the 1.5 trillion dollar deficit he inherited, yet has committed to over $10 trillion of debt over the next 10 years....

please pardon us for not using you or the left as our compass for sanity.
