ABC News "Nightline" investigated American pedophiles living in Cambodia for a special news report that will air tonight. ABC News traveled to Cambodia to see how a local nonprofit group is working to arrest suspected foreign pedophiles. The nonprofit has been building a case against Harvey Johnson, a failed real estate developer from Arizona, who is accused of using his position as an English teacher to molest several underage girls.

Cambodia has long been a magnet for sex tourists due to extreme poverty and rampant corruption, ABC News reports.

Wow! That video was so revealing! I guess that's what two years of investigation will do. That slow-talking, long-faced guy on 20/20, or is it Dateline, will turn it into a 2-hour inconclusive drama.

An old fat American man teaching children in his home. They have been watching him for over two years ! Two years ! 700 days. ! Yet they don't appear to have enough evidence to arrest this guy.
Do they have any evidence ? If they do, why are they waiting 2 years ?
If they don't, what is the point of this story ?

I was wondering the same thing. They mentioned no evidence at all

you can't arrest a guy for being creepy

true, but they can make him leave the counrty

hopefully they have more evidence than this. From the clip shown this person is alleged to teach English out of his home. The stated chief accusation against him is that he acted suspicously one time in 2007. Even after sneaking an undercover person into his home they don't allege that he has done anything wrong but ABC feels comfortable splashing his name and image nationwide.

I just don't get why someone could want to have sex with a kid like that. There's really gotta be something broken in their brain.

If anyone is experiencing suppressed aggression and rage about this, it might be time to consider going on safari in Cambodia.

Excellent Investigative reporting. Now why is ABC avoiding the child prostitution allegations made against ACORN? For that matter why aren't Women's Rights Groups speaking out against ACORN?
Is there an agenda here?

Time to shut down anyone or any group that willfully facilitates the trafficking and the sexual abuse of children.

The world needs to cooperate to end the sex trade and havens for adults who prey on children.

Maybe this time they'll get the thing right, since last time we had such an expose, some featured purportedly Cambodian child prostitutes who were speaking a fluent Vietnamese. And the likely customer is going to be an Asian and not Western male, and Cambodian more often than not. And that's why the problem isn't going to go away anytime soon, and surely not as a result of American expose after expose after expose on the danger of the American male as sexually predatory tourist. Almost forgot, but here's the prior expose via Youtube. Note the Vietnamese being spoken by some, and then note that while the video starts with, primarily Cambodian men doing the preying, the piece then strays off into the western tourist and never returns to the point that the problem will never be solved until Cambodia is willing to deal with the problem created by its own preying on the little ones:

This is a truly repulsive crime. Worse than death, I think, because many children who are abused themselves grow up to be abusers. Statistics show that each pedophile might abuse 100 or more children. Someplace like Cambodia, where poverty is so rampant and terrible, they might well abuse more. What happens to these poor children, as a result? It's an awful thing, and not enough is done to stop it.

This is what is disgusting: That ABC turns a profit off the prurient interests of the American television viewer. Put ABC's executives behind bars for their repugnant exploitation of the misfortunes of the Third World for commercial gain. Blecchhh.

So the alternative is to just ignore this? If this was happening in USA would you wish to ignore as well or is it because it's just some third world country and why should we bother about what happens somewhere else when our citizens are the ones who exploit and create these misfortunes of these children.

Then, feel free to reinsert head into hole in sand and do nothing while other people suffer.

The point is, ABC trips all over itself to make money on the following combination: The suffering of Third World kids and the prurient interest of the American television viewer. Salacious, sleazy behavior = Profit; as far as ABC is concerned. The amoral and opportunisitc pursuit of luchre by the TV network is what's really disgusting here.
