Thursday night's Inside Edition featured startling footage of a woman literally being dragged out of Chelsea hotspot Marquee before being raped at her assailant's apartment.

In the video, Luis Zambrano grabs the unidentified 23-year-old woman after she drunkenly passes out and attempts to carry her off through a sea of people. At one point Zambrano drops her on the dance floor, with nobody bothering to come to her aide.

The New York Post reports:

[Zambrano] raped the passed-out woman twice back at his apartment on 14th Avenue in College Point, prosecutors said. The victim only regained consciousness during the second assault -- with no idea of where she was or who Zambrano was.

She was missing her coat and other belongings -- apparently all left at the club.

Zambrano pleaded guilty earlier this month to rape and abduction charges, and will spend the next 3 1/2 years in prison before being deported to his native Peru.

Good luck proving that video is Luis and the alleged victim in court. Also, it provides no evidence of rape, it's not a crime to carry a drunk person out of a club. It may very well be he raped her and there is evidence of that, however, saying his name, claiming he raped her and showing a grey video of someone carrying a girl out of the club is shoddy reporting indeed. He is innocent until proven guilty BUT now he will forever be tainted as a perverted rapist. In addition, if there is DNA evidence and she was passed out how will someone prove it wasn't consensual. Good-luck. I would sue whoever posted this video for slander if I was Luis.

the man pleaded guilty, dimwit. so, yeah, he will be forever tainted as a perverted rapist because he is.

This is from NBCNY.com, from July 2009 as an add-on to the story in which the above rape victim said she "drank too much":

This isn't the first time the scandal-plagued Marquee club has made headlines. In December, a Brooklyn beauty named Laura Garza vanished after leaving the club with a convicted sex offender, Michael Mele. Garza, 25, got into Mele's car and was last seen at about 5 a.m. in an upstate parking lot. Cops have searched for her body to no avail.

Mele hasn't been charged in connection with Garza's disappearance, but cops have been holding him on $300,000 bail in Orange County on possession of stolen debit and credit cards charges. He's also been accused of failing to report an address change and violating his probation by going to the Marquee club because alcohol is served there, according to the Post.

I feel sorry for the victim, but this is one reason NOT to get drunk. I glad a tape was available to evidence to put him away.

She wasn't rescued? How many times has the reporter been in a nightclub or anywhere for that matter where a couple -- where one had too much -- were exiting and not come to the rescue? Because, you know, most times people take it that they are a couple. What we are talking about is an abduction all the more shocking precisely because it is so boldly public (and obviously not only did the rapist think he could get away with it because no one would suspect it but he did get away with it).

There is ONE person responsible for this rape.

His name Luis Zambrano.

However, every club in America should make it their policy to NOT allow any unconscious person to be removed from the premises by anyone, even a "date" or "boyfriend".

Call 911. Save a life.

This predator won't be sentenced until late Oct. and is out on $30K bond. He's here on a green card and if his passport wasn't turned over to the court, he may flee the country. Incredible about the 3-1/2 yrs, too. Why wasn't he charged with kidnapping? Why was he given bond, esp since he's a foreign national and could be a flight risk? There are many unanswered questions; I'm going to research.

I think YoJymbo and LiberalHick should get a room.

Yes, I'm kidding, but really. A woman is kidnapped and raped, the rapist is convicted, and y'all are STILL blaming her?!?

No wonder so many women prefer to spend their evenings with a good book and a cat.

Women should be aware that there ARE predators out there. And any person, male or female, who goes out alone and gets trashed can't assume that anyone out there is going to help you. Otherwise, we wouldn't have so many drunk driving arrests. And being on foot can be even worse. That last drink you have may be the one that puts you over the edge of simply being "high" as you're leaving the bar.

Assume personal responsibility for yourself, don't put that responsibility on others. Even in this day of high education about alcohol and drug use, it's hard getting the message through to some people to curb self-destructive behavior.

I am so sorry for this lady.. One thing women and men must realize, there are messed up people out there who will hurt you!! When I went away to college in the late 80s, my mother told me to I never excepted an open drink from anyone. Never leave a drink and come back to it. I am in my 40s and I am still very careful when I go out. Please be careful out there.. It could be your life.

Great advice your mom gave you I would like to add to always go out in groups with a designated non-drinker for the night. Its sad but true that there are people from all walks of life that look for these opportunities to commit a crime. I have 2 sisters and whenever they went out my brother and I secretly stayed close behind to make sure no harm came their way. People may think that was paranoia on our part but from all the times we did it it paid off once.....and once is all it would take to become a statistic.

They keep saying nobody came to her rescue, as if someone is supposed to know that he is a rapist and not her date?

If someone is so drunk that they can't stand up, an aid unit should be called. Most clubs stipulate this to their emplyoees.
The person may have been drugged, they may have a health condition, or they may be so drunk that they need medical intervention that is not safe to deal with at home.
A good outcome, no matter what, because if the person is that drunk they get the cost, embarassment, and discomfort of time spent in the emergency room & otherwise a life has been saved.

Thank you. If someone cannot communicate or walk, call 911.

You have no way of knowing if they are dying from a diabetic coma, etc.

I once asked a woman I didn't recognise for her ID. I was working in a unit for the disabled. She said she was a Dr. I was a student nurse. But she still showed me her ID without any complaints. You just have to be a bit proactive and polite.

How frightened we have all become to interfere.

You are so right about this. Every time I see something that looks amiss I try to politely question those involved or just go ahead and call the police.. Sometimes people get really ugly but; many times I get a thank you for caring.
I think we all have to care and if getting called a few names is all that happens I will continue to question or just call the police.

I don't want to be that person that could have helped and didn't.

The other day we had two people I'd never seen before wandering around our R&D office. I asked our administrator who they were. She said, "I think they are like building admins". To which I replied, "You think, or you know?" Because, of course, industrial spies would never pose as attractive building admins in nice suits.

So, yeah, label it "good samaritans" or "girlfriend mad at boyfriend fights him off till he chivalrously carries her home", and I'd still be asking questions.

But I'd be in the minority.

This is horrifying, but ladies, please:

Don't drink yourself into a stupor at a club, esPECially (!) if you are alone.
Hello?? In a shark's den, you might want to keep your wits about you.

It's unlikely that she either drank herself into a stupor or was alone.
