With the first day of fall upon us, we put together a tribute to the autumn harvest. From grapes and tobacco found in Bulgaria to coconuts from India to wheat from Afghanistan, this autumn's harvests are in full swing! Check out these spectacular photos from around the world.

Thank you for this story that reaffirmed hope. Reading the global warming pieces were making me so hopeless

Beautiful! I just found some Farmer's Markets in Las Vegas that probably have nothing like the stuff in these photos, but now I'm even more excited to go!

I am a gardener, so I am outside most of the summer and when its time to harvest I gather all my vegetables and fruit and do some canning. We are gentleman farmers, raise our own beef , pork and chickens. We built our own home, 3000 sq. feet on 5 acres, 3 great kids and a husband who works hard every day. This is why I don't want socialism, why should I give up what we have worked hard for, so someone else can have what I have without working for it....Capitalism is the way to go......

What in the heck are you talking about? What does that have to do with autumn?

That said, if your country is struggling with socialism, you might try moving to the U.S. We have a lovely representational democracy. Sure, we have some crazy people who try to argue that any social progress at all or attempts by the government to actually protect people from greedy corporations or reform a bloated health insurance system are "fascism" or "socialism" or "communism" or lots of other things, but what country *doesn't* have batshit insane people? Other than that, though, we're a pretty OK place.

So I guess you don't travel on "socialist" roads, read at the "socialist" library or hope that the the "socialist" fire department will come to your rescue when your 3,000 square foot home catches fire?

Melancholy.
Listen to Joni Mitchell sing "Urge For Going" and try not to become lachrymose.
I regard Fall as my personal favorite.

summer is over? really? nobody bothered to tell southern california...it was 104 today. I was melting!...

I cant wait for it to be cool enough so I can wear a coat, but that wont be until at least mid november...its just awful. Sometimes I wish I lived in Michigan, but I dont know how to shovel snow so...It only snows once every 2 years here, and I only enjoy snow for a couple of hours. By the next day its usually gone and I can wear flip flops again.
