Anti-abortion activist Lila Rose said at last weekend's Value Voters Summit that as long as abortions are legal, they should be "done in the public square," thus disgusting people into action. And then "we might hear angels singing as we ponder the glory of conception."
Rose is a student at UCLA and president of Live Action, a "new-media movement for life."

Lila Rose comes from an extremely conservative Christian family (big surprise). Lila and her 7-8 siblings were all homeschooled, much of which was out of the Bible. Their mother said they only needed to have an hour of schooling a day, really. Which explains a lot. Their family was considered wacko by the other very conservative members of her church (I wasn't a member but worked there). Her mom was anti-birth control. She was determined to have all the kids that Jesus wanted her to have.
Bet Lila is anti-birth control too. Just like her mother and family. These people are dangerous. Their ignorance will only serve to hurt millions of men and women who want to prevent unwanted pregnancies by having access to comprehensive, medically accurate information about reproduction, birth control & safe sex and yes, abortion when it is necessary.
Their family actually was a very nice family. But too zombie-brainwashed-like when it came to religion and their worldview. I just want people to understand this is religious ideology and nothing else. But it's pretty obvious, I guess.

And while we are at it, let's make appendectomies public too. And heart transplants. This way, we can all get so sick of them that we will demand that we stop these hideous practices. If we all saw how ugly and messy the procedures were, I am sure that you would all join me in banning them too.
And that morning after pill, well there's not much to see, but I am sure that Lila and her friends have fertile (pardon the pun) imaginations to see the process through.
I am delighted to see her advocate abortion, public or private. Welcome aboard the pro-choice movement, Lila.
This reminds me a lot of the Right's ideas of drug testing welfare recipients or building a wall on the Mexican border: they are simple, not thought out, and evoke some sort of emotional reaction rather than rationality, reason, or pragmatism. In other words, this gal's plan is nothing more than yet another bumper sticker that tries to sum a complex and nuanced question of public with a simple slogan.
Mothers get arrested for breastfeeding in public. But abortions should be done next to the hot dog vendor? What message are we sending about motherhood again?

Will she have her next pap smear or gynecological visit in the town square? How about going back to beheadings in the town square too?
Heck, why stop there? Why not just lock people in stocks and hurl rotten vegetables filled with rocks at 'em? That should do the trick. Failing that, draw-and-quarter them.

Are we trying to reduce unwanted pregnancy here or increase suicides? And whatever happened to "compassionate" conservatism? The pregnant woman is a human being too.
So let's see if I understand. The right complains about government involvement in health care, industry regulations, bailouts, and generally everything else....except abortion, because it's important to them. So it should be illegal. Okay, got it. Carry on, fruitcakes.
Don't forget to add marriage there. They'd really like the government to keep those horrible people over there from marrying.

It's akin to
"I don't like surgery for colo-rectal cancer...I DEMAND it be done in the public square so that people will realize just how gross it is. Then they'll demand it be ended."
The very fact that the right-to-lifers are so willing to compel people to have their private, consensual medical procedures exposed to the public is a measure of just how desperate they are.
Yeah, so this is helpful to her cause..

Abortions should be illegal until men have the right to release all financial responsibility for any unborn child. Until Men have their full and equal rights abortions must be illegal.

Its really simply, if you want to avoid potential of an abortion simply practice abstinence. Worry about your own body and not everybody else's.
Couldn't that same logic be applied to women. This is the old "you should have kept your legs shut and now you have to deal with the consequences and raise the kid" argument. Your arguing that abortion should be outlawed.
I don't agree with that. I think abortion should be legal once men are able to sign a piece of paper releasing financial obligations.

You missed the point....men and women have equal responsibility. If you don't want to make a baby you better damn well protect yourself. But you don't have the right to tell another person what to do with THEIR body. If men who don't want children would take responsibility for their actions rather than expecting someone else (ie women) to do it, then there would be no need for qestion of financial responsibility. See how easy that works.
