Obama Complained, "Jesus, I Wish They'd Stop Grabbing My Ass": New Book (VIDEO)

***UPDATE 7:47PM*** Christopher Andersen appeared on Hardball tonight to discuss his new book about the Obamas' marriage. Scroll down for the video.

---

According to a new book, Barack and Michelle Obama's marriage was strained on the campaign trail because of all the women throwing themselves at the future president.

In "Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage," Christopher Andersen writes that women were constantly trying to attach themselves to Obama on the campaign trail.

After an appearance in Peoria, Illinois, the future president reportedly said as he got into his car, "Jesus, I wish they'd stop grabbing my ass."

Michelle Obama, writes Andersen, "was not amused" and thought her husband was "loving it." She "resorted to giving him the silent treatment."

The New York Daily News reported on the book on Sunday. Some more highlights: Michelle shot down the idea of Hillary Clinton for vice president, and she also convinced Barack to use the catchphrase "Yes We Can." (He thought it was "childish" and "corny.")

They sound like a typical cute couple. Him momentarily playing off ego and her feeling a little insecure, despite the he is clearly devoted and was just joking. For goodness sakes, can they be allowed to be human? The way women are acting these days it is hard to be secure even on a date.

I saw the President speak at a local college on a campaign stop. A young man was there with his pants pulled way down and his underwear showing..The president was heard saying to him."Do you walk around in front of your mother or your grandmother like that?" It was a funny moment. The Secret Service is so all over him, I don't see how anyone could grab anything...

I wonder if George and Laura had that problem ...

Actually, come to think of it, Michelle Bachmann seemed to have this "stalker" thing going for President Bush when he was in office.

The prez is not only a very good looking guy, he is also very charismatic and has gentle, caring and sweet personality. I can understand Michelle's concerns. If I had to meet him at university, I can see myself flirting with him. It also looks like he could be somewhat of a player as he has that swagger and smooth moves on the dance floor. It is possible that the "don't mess with me" attitude that the first Lady has was probably a means of protecting herself emotionally as the prez was and still is a babe magnet. I think she can rest asured that he would not "hike the Appalachian trail" while he is president, there is simply too much at stake. They seemed to have smothed things out and he goes out of his way to make her feel special. If she is done with him, I'll take him off her hands anytime...LOL!

I take it that you are not being serious about: "If she is done with him, I'll take him off her hands anytime...LOL!"

How is the author exclusively privileged to such information? Since he is not offering a first-hand witness account, does he offer any supporting documentation to substantiate his claims? Color me skeptical...

Every marriage has its highs and lows. It wouldn't be normal to have only wonderful, meaningful, loving moments, unfortunately. I believe its one of those old cliches, "If you had Christmas every day, pretty soon, Christmas wouldn't mean anything anymore." Same with marriage. Ups and downs make for gratitude and happiness. Fortunately they care about each other enough to stick it out.

My parents were married happily for 57 years. I remember my Mom throwing the mac and cheese at the wall. I remember my Dad, crying that she'd never for give him. And yet they were very happy, very entwined in each other's lives for all those years.

We don't know another person's marriage. Heck, I have enough trouble with my own. LOL

I doubt the usefulness of a book of this subjet matter. I am actually appauled by this author trying to take away from the positive image that our first couple exude. Why can't we just leave good enough alone. The Obamas appear to have a happy marriage and a happy family. The marriage won't be perfect, no marriage will be. However, do we need to know all of the intricate details of their relationship. Let people have something that is positive. This is one book that I won't be reading.

I saw Senator Obama speak in Birmingham, AL in early 2008. The crowd was electric with excitement. Obama is one of the most charismatic men in the world today. No one could approach him due to security. He was allowed to shake a few hands as he exited the stadium. I can imagine someone wanting to grab him. He was beautiful. I voted for him and am thrilled off my gourd that he won. I am still filled with pride that he leads my country.

Me too! I'm tickled to death to have a president who 1) isn't an idiot, and 2) has that "It" factor. It's not something than can be explained; you either have "It," or you don't, and Obama most definitely does.

Someone please explain to me what Michelle Obama said or did that was "militant"? I think the people who throw out this term don't know what the term militant means.

I down loaded this book out of sheer curiosity and the fact that I am a supporter and big fan of our First Couple. Let me tell you, folks: it's and interesting and informative read. Absolutely no sensationalism in it.

I don't know...I saw Obama speak at Georgia Tech long before he was the Democratic Nominee and it was really hard to touch his hand, much less his @$$. It was like being at a rock concert, there were so many people rushing the stage to get to him as he left. However, I was very very close to his head, and so this is my brush with the president of the United States that I shall tell my grandchildren about: I was able to glimpse the top of his head, from 10 feet away. Quite exciting.

I think I might have popped an eyeball out had I been able to touch his @$$.

(I'm being very irreverent here; I'm actually quite reluctant to whole-heartedly believe books like this. They seem so sensational) (and that goes for those aimed at conservatives as well) (unless it's Anne Coulter. I pretty much believe everything I read about that chick) (kidding) (mostly) :)
