In every great comedy series there's that one crude, crazy, or curious character who stands out: The Oddball. From Andy Kaufman on "Taxi" to Abed in the recent premiere of "Community," oddballs are classic characters who use their eccentricities to enrich the show. Here, we've collected 73 of our favorites. Vote and tell us which are your favorites!

Abed: "Community"

In the pilot for this new NBC sitcom Abed stole the show with his hyperactive, pop-culture obsessed, ethnically ambiguous character.

How can Abed from the Community even make the list?????

they've only shown ONE episode!

the Huffpost community really let me down with that pick

besides... Charlie (from Its Always Sunny) is by far more odd

The Andy Griffith Show was nothing without the character of Barney Fife, played superbly by Don Knotts. How apt he was mentioned for playing another character on "Three's Company". Taxi, for me, was enlived by the excellent work of Christopher Lloyd. Even Wayne Knight on "Seinfeld" perked up the show, while Kramer stole most scenes. One exception being the prat fall by George doing the "Vandelay Industries-Unemployment Office phone call" scene. But, Kramer on the back of a fire engine roaring through Manhatten was right up there with the "Spaghetti-O's Horse" scene in Central Park. MTM worked so well because the writers were smart enough to create great comic foils such as Baxter, Phyllis and the role played so well by Betty White, when she tried to seduce Lou. Even in "Barney Miller" some of the best comic moments were provided by actors brought in to play "perps".

Wow. There are so many missing off your list, it's not even funny

Mr. Furley on Three's Company
Phoebe on Friends
Ed Norton on The Honeymooners
Ted Baxter on Mary Tyler Moore
Jim Ignakowski on Taxi
Lenny and Squiggy from Laverne and Shirley
Larry, his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl from Newhart
the guy played by Frank Nelson that always showed up on The Jack Benny Show
Gomer Pyle
Quagmire on Family Guy

And that's just off the top of my head.

Kramer is the best here but you left out his brilliant forerunner Art Carney as Ed Norton.

How do you leave out Gracie Allen. George Burns would have been nothing without Gracie, and he said so many times. Every ditzy blonde is a testament to Grace Allen.

And I agree. Pick anyone from Soap or Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.

Mr. Smith, "Lost in Space." Ann Southern, the voice of the car in "My Mother the Car." Jethrelle Bodine (Jethro in drag) in the "Beverly Hillbillies." The weird expressionless two-dimensional cartoon characters on "Clutch Cargo" whose only animated movements were their lips (oh, sorry.....that's Greta van Sustren).
