Police Play Wii Bowling During Drug Raid (VIDEO)

First Posted: 11/22/09 05:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:10 PM ET

New security camera video shows police officers in Florida bowling on a Nintendo Wii for hours during a drug raid at a suspect's home.

Tampa Bay Online has details:

With guns drawn and flashlights cutting through darkened rooms, Polk County undercover drug investigators stormed the home of convicted drug dealer Michael Difalco near Lakeland in March.

As investigators searched the home for drugs, some drug task force members found other ways to occupy their time. Within 20 minutes of entering Difalco's house, some of the investigators found a Wii video bowling game and began bowling frame after frame.

Well they are not suppose to kick or play games. If they are going to keep this failed Drug War going, then they best get their crap together while they do it. Its becoming a joke to even cops, if they have time to play games while destroying some citizen's life because they use drugs. Gee I feel so much safer now that they raided this guy and played his Wii.

When we bring Medical Marijuana to Florida I will make sure the shops all have Wii's for the police when they raid.. Then again, if they confuse a remote in the hand for a gun, someone could get killed..

What you are seeing is a rare, candid peek behind the PR facade.

I have been busted twice for distributing green medicine. I did time for what I now do legally.

The cops in both raids were crass, sophomoric and seemed to be trying to invent an excuse to shoot somebody. I always had the feeling that some of these young warriors wanted to just hear their guns go boom! They really do scrape the bottom of the barrel when recruiting these thugs! I say, any thinking American, anyone who practiced true patriotism, would not participate in this kind of [literally] fascist, militant police state!

That Wii Bowling and the whole Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort is some good gaming. I don't care what the "hardcore" fanboys say and I game on all three systems and have been playing games since the NES. But that joke, "Maybe bowling's right up their alley" was funny and Roker's "Next time, spare us" retort.

Come on cops need a break too. I mean tazing guys with no legs is hard, draining work. They deserve a break to un-wind.

For real. It must have been his first strike in any form of bowling. You'd have to be a bit mystified by the criminal in this case. The cops raid your house with guns drawn and within minutes they're playing your video games. Was this a raid or gamers in desperate need of a Wii fix?

They were making sure there were no drugs in the bowling alley. How else are you supposed to move the pins?

Did they find the Wii'd at the house?

Really, I have a bigger problem with the fact that they are searching for drugs - the drug war itself - than somebody screwing off for 20 minutes on the job. If that's a big deal, I'll videotape myself & the people I work with....20 minutes is NOTHING.

Honestly, this is about as far from being a news story as I can imagine some random event being.

As long as law enforcement is doing their job in an effective and professional manner, I say leave them the heck alone. If the worst thing that comes out of this is a few wasted hours on the taxpayer's dollar, then this is probably the most innocent transgression that a cop could possibly make. Besides, I'm sure that these _Florida_ drug officers could use a break...

I did not mean that to be a factual statement.

Have you forgotten the suspects are innocent until proven guilty? The cops were invading this person's private possessions. It is appalling.
12:09 PM on 09/22/2009
Haha, yes. Appalling! They might have learned the "victim's" high scores!

Get a life, and maybe find something worthwhile to be outraged about.

Please tell me- how are cops who are playing the Wii for hours and hours at a suspect's house "doing their jobs"? Please explain that to me. We pay these guys, but NOT TO PLAY THE Wii! Imagine how many people were not protected nor served while these imbeciles goofed off for HOURS. Give me a break.

Before searching for drugs, they should have spent a minute or two searching for the douc_hebag with a camera.

They kick somebody in handcuffs during a drug raid, they get in trouble. They play Wii Bowling for hours during a drug raid, they get in trouble. Why can't the Police catch a break in the Press?
