Saying McDonald's is ubiquitous in the United States isn't terribly newsworthy. But blogger Stephen Von Worley has creatively figured out the farthest distance any hamburger-loving American could be from the Golden Arches. (Hat tip to BuzzFeed)

The answer? 107 miles. Here's Von Worley on the exact spot in the U.S. where you'd be furthest from a Mickey D's:

"Between the tiny Dakotan hamlets of Meadow and Glad Valley lies the McFarthest Spot: 107 miles distant from the nearest McDonald's, as the crow flies, and 145 miles by car!"

Check out the story on Von Worley's blog.

The NYC area is unbelievable.

You can't walk a few blocks before you trip over a Mickie "D", a C.h.ase bank, Strbux, 31 flavrs, Dnkn Dnuts, TMble, Dminos, subway (not the train), ppa jhns and on and on.

And that's just for starters. Trust me.

I always wanted to believe that each state in the US was a place of originality, and that when I went on holiday that I was going to see something totally different. Lately when I go other places though, the scenery looks exactly like everywhere else.

Any mall in the country can be "picked up" and transplanted ANYWHERE else in the country, and NO ONE would miss a BEAT.

Franchise Nation.

How many towns DON'T have a McDonalds? I'd like to see the calculation if you just do "east of the Mississippi."

I can't think of anything more obnoxious than someone bringing MickeyD's on a plane flight. Everywhere you go, the smell's the same, you can smell it across a large room. What a pitiful company. Yeah, it's rich, but so what? I say give the birthers and teabaggers all the Big Macs they can eat for free, so we can watch their arteries clog and they can keel over.

Goldman and Bank of Amerika run the markets along with Geithner, and beagle boy Ben. There is no free markets, only welfare capitalism and socialism for capitalism.

Okay, I remember when we got our first McDs. My Dad had a very unappetizing name for what he thought of the burgers. He also had equally unpleasant names for the Wendy burgers etc. He liked Steak'n'Shake. While I liked Steak'n'Shake too I liked going with my friends to McDs.
BTW the order window was outside and the only seating was outside....not usable in northern IL. in the winter!
Now I live in the land where you can get a Green Chile Cheeseburger for 99cents at McDs and they are quite good!

I'm surprised that there's a place in the US where you have to drive as far as 107 miles to the nearest McDonalds. It must REALLY be in the boonies! Within one-tenth of that distance of my home (in a city with a population of 15,000 surrounded by a bunch of rural/suburban communities - with populations on the order of a few thousand each - near the coast 30 miles north of Boston) we have 8 McDonalds that I can think of right off the top of my head... I'm I'm sure I'm missing a couple. And there must be at least another couple of dozen total other national fast food chain outlets (e.g. Burger King, Wendy's, KFC, Taco Bell, etc.) within that same distance. Throughout this entire area, I don't think one is more than a ten minute drive from a McDonalds or other fast food place.

The roar arising from all the health care workers that attend at angiograms, angioplasties and coronary artery procedures is deafening.
They are not out of work, and have every prospect of working for as long as they are needed.

Why do people eat that garbage? There is not even marginal nutritional value, just bulk to fill their and their children's bellys. It's PATHETIC that McDonalds is so popular!!!!! When will parents realize that they are destroying their children's health with what they put in their mouths.

Sandwiches made with animal parts called hamburgers, grease soaked potateos, and carbonated sugar water.......MMMMMMM......LUNCH!!!!

SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Add Hardy,s, BurgerKing, Wendy,s and KFC to the map and I'll be even more disgusted and shocked!!!!

McDonald's is delicious and there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with eating there from time to time.

Go back to eating your unsustainable "organics" and protesting GE foods LOL.

Just think how many legitimate small businesses have been destroyed by these multinational franchises with deep pockets?

That's what the map really shows.

Right because it's IMPOSSIBLE to find local fast food joints in your town.

What planet do you live on?
