I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Is this the world's longest basketball shot? The guys behind Dude Perfect would have you believe so. It seems impossible, but then again, people have made unbelievable shots before.

The Daily Mail reports that "computer experts called in to examine previous videos have told American media that they cannot see where any edits may have been made."

Watch and judge for yourself. You can see more of their videos here.

The trajectory of the ball matched in both camera angles. The wind caught it and pulled it leftward. It was a great shot. Of course there were a lot of takes, but they got the "money shot".

I don't see anyone on the ground filming the shot as the ball enters the basket.

If you look a little closer you will see someone crouched down beside the basket who doesn't jump up when everyone else does.

This is real, I don't understand people who scour the internet for things to call fake. Do you people feel like you're some kind of CSI who cracked the case or something, and therefore are better than the rest of us? I just don't get it.

With enough takes, this shot would eventually be made.

If it's real it probably took many, many, many takes. My football team's quaterback made a shot from the top of the bleachers in our gym. It wasn't nearly as far or as difficult but it was done. A shot like this can be made - it just depends on the number of attempts.

This video is as fake as paying 1 billion to the drug companies in profits for the h1n1 drug.

"Dude Perfect"? CLEARLY a ripoff of the ORIGINAL Mr. Perfect, pro wrestler Curt Hennig. To introduce him to the WWF audience upon his debut, vignettes were filmed of him throwing a Hail Mary pass and running to catch it, bowling a 300 game, and yes, a basketball shot similar to this- the gimmick being that , as the ultimate athlete, "Nobody beats Mr. Perfect--NOBODY." This joker comes across as a pale imitation of this meme. It's too bad, too, as Curt Hennig truly was a highly talented [but of course not "perfect"] multi-sport athlete, while this guy just seems like some dude.

RIP, Mr. Perfect.

Looks real. You can't fake that kind of emotion w/out having won an oscar. (In particular, watch in the top shot the kids on the ground when the ball goes in. They start running away with excitement while screaming. That's authentic-looking.) Plus, dude had a build like a quarterback.

Fake, that curve is impossible.

Precisely!

Pretty much anyone with a good arm is going to make that basket if you do it over and over again.

Kinda like the way Sacha Baron-Cohen makes movies: say something embarrassing to enough people, you're going to get at least one really good response...and that's the one that makes it into the movie!

The shot isn't real .. When the shot cuts to the perspective of the basket coming out of the sky the relationship to the building structure is way off. The basketball appears to come out of the clouds way above the platform he threw it from. But it's a cool fake..

I see. So the "computer experts called in to examine previous videos" don't know what they are doing, but you do.

I don't see why people always assume this stuff is fake. It's not that hard to believe. Five or six guys stand out there all day, take a couple of thousand shots, or continue shooting for as long as your collective arms hold up. And if someone makes the shot you've got a sweet video. If it doesn't happen, then you delete the film, try something new tomorrow, and maybe come back to this one at a later date.

The ball leaves the frame, which is a natural consequence of this sort of thing but it's also an easy edit. Once the ball leaves the frame, it would be natural to assume that the "real" ball has been replaced digitally.

The ball doesn't appear to track properly with the background as the camera tilts down on the wide shot. Either the ball miraculously wiggled on the x-axis in mid-air or it's a fake.

It's fake, just like Ronaldhino's off-the-crossbar football boot ad.
