Courteney Cox plays a newly single 40-ish mother on 'Cougar Town,' which premieres Wendnesday at 9:30 EST on ABC. Cox is married to a younger man in real life, but the age difference between her and David Arquette (seven years) is nothing compared to some of these May-December couples. Which of them are perfectly matched, and which are just puzzling? You decide.

I vote Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon. Their relationship has lasted longer than most. Many of the others won't last long because Hollywood types just don't stay together.

Why in the world are you calling these women cougars when, for the most of them, there is only a few year age difference?
This is just ridiculous, and there would be no mention of any discrepancy or made up words for this if it were the man who was just a few years older than the woman.

btw...that show "Cougar Town"....I was able to stomach it for 7 minutes. Patronizingly bad writing and I'm supposed to believe that Courtney Cox is looking at herself in the mirror and being disgusted by what she sees? Puh-leeze!
Being in our 40's or 50's does not make us blind. Or stupid.

As someone mentioned, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins look like a genuine, in-love couple.

The other couples seem too glitzy, superficial, not genuinely in love.

Otherwise, a 7-yr age difference is negligible, and it's ridiculous to categorize that as a 'cougar' type relationship.

It's shocking to see Barbara Hershey. She was such a beauty in Endless Summer and her other earlier films.

I agree completely with you about Tim and Susan. They look very natural and comfortable together. Eva Longoria looks like she is having serious regrets.

The most interesting couple is Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, by far - age has nothing to do with it; personality and history/life experience. The others all seem superficial - glitzy.

Ellen looks like she's in danger of losing her, though. She's hanging on for dear life.

Halle Berry and her guy seem very happy.

A woman who dates a man who is 7 years younger is a "cougar"? This whole thing is so ridiculous. Enough with the cougar BS already.

Whi cares who these actors pair upwith. It's their business. If they're happy with each other, so what? Some pople just like older partners and some younger ones. It's like preferring brunettes over redheads etc. Different strokes ...

Halle Berry's Gabrielle Aubry though looks like a double for that Swedish actor who plays Eric on HBO's "True Blood". The woman always had good taste. :) Mariah Carey and her guy look like, in that pic at least, they really enjoy being with each other and that's a terrible pic of Ellen; she looks tired and haggard. In the end, as long as these couples are consenting adults. party on!

When will people stop using this horrible label and stereotype for any woman who dates a younger man, whether it's a one year or a 30 year difference. Grow up Huffpo.

Before she died, I was talking to my beloved great-aunt Amy. She said "You know I was older than Johnny." I replied "A little bit." She said "I don't know how much you call a little bit, but I was born in 1894 and he was born in 1919." They met in a VA hospital after WW11. He had spent years in a German POW camp and never had treatment for his nose, which was blown off, or other injuries sustained when he tried to escape. Johnny proposed and she said she was too old. He replied "I will never marry anyone else. It is you or no one." An astrologer told her she could see at least 30 years of a good marriage.

Thirty-two years later Johnny died suddenly. Amy was that which she had never expected to be - a widow.

Oddly because of his injuries, particularly his nose, they really did not look a generation apart. They just looked like the loving couple they were.

There hasn't been a better marriage in our family since then.

That's a lovely story. As they say, it's more about shared values. I'm so glad they enjoyed a wonderful life together.

I have been married three times, in all cases to men older than me (from 4-11 years older) and have had affairs with younger men (in between marriages!) for over 20 years. Trust me, I have a LOT MORE fun with the younger men. I have NEVER had any cosmetic surgery nor lied about my age. I live life to the fullest.

Now, at 55 I am involved with the best partner I have ever met in my life, dependable, masculine but gentle, gorgeous, calm but steady as steel. In April, I "dropped dead" of an unexpected and, as of yet unexplained seizure caused by two intracraneal bleeds. Not only was he there to catch me before I hit the floor, he never left my side during the 4 days in ICU. He has been true blue and still in love with me. In fact, he wants us to move in together.

For the first time in my life I am truly happy and will enjoy it for as long as it lasts. I know that soon I will have to let him go, we both know it. He is only 25.

There are no formulas in life. Nothing is certain. Enjoy every minute of your life and good things will come your way, regardless of age.

I've always preferred older men. When I was in my 20's, I dated guys in their 40's and 50's. They'd been around and knew what they wanted and few played games and I learned from them, things I would have never learned from someone near my own age. I also got some very good chances I never would have gotten with guys around my own age and places to see and I met people I never would have met without them, actors, writers, theater people etc. I would have never left NY though if it happend been for one man who was much older and gave me a job in his design showroom. He was a workaholic though and didn't have enough time for me or himself, so off I went to San Francisco and never returned but I think of him always and he was the kindest, nicest person I ever knew. I see him sometimes on a home shopping network peddling his jewelry and I feel sad because I know as a very old man now, he's still alone. Now that I'm much older, I'm the older man and that 20 to 30 year preferable range for me is out of the question. Still, I just wouldn't know what to say to someone very young the next morning. Is a quandry huh, so now my tatses out of necessity are geraed to someone around my own age or slightly older.

He sounds like a wonderful person! you are a lucky woman and he's a lucky guy...:).
My husband is 7 years younger - sometimes it's funny thinking of the age difference. But we have been through so much together as a couple - that the difference doesn't make any difference.
Younger men rock...:)

Being a WOMAN who has dated younger men for over 20 years, I find the word 'Cougar' offensive. I am NOT an animal nor am I a hunter. I am an intelligent woman who prefers younger men vs older men who are set in their ways.

Besides, men my age prefer younger women anyway so it's all good.

I will say, however, that being called a cougar nowadays is better than what I WAS called back then: a cradle robber.

Don't take it too seriously....it's just a word.

Yes, it's a word. And it's a derogatory word that singles out women who date younger men. Just like Gold digger is a word that singles out women who date older men who just so happen to be rich.

Do we call old, rich men, who date extremely young women, Sugar Daddies? No. Especially not if they are famous. They're called 'men who have it all'. But talking about celebrity and non-celebrity women and their choices are open to be criticized.

Yes, I'm talking about double standards and it's wrong.
