New York Post:

Consuelos is no longer part of "The Oprah Winfrey Show's" Friday roundtable panel discussions, which last season included comic Alexandra Wentworth and Oprah's BFF, Gayle King.

"Oprah" is moving away from the Friday-panel format it introduced last season, when Consuelos, et al. discussed a variety of topical issues each week.

I watch Oprah, but I don't like the Friday show.

One thing about Oprah, though. Dr. Phil is catching on that you can't "positive think" your way around some of the things going on in this economy. Oprah hasn't figured that out yet. She had a single mother on who had lost her job and was wondering how she was going to buy groceries and the whole thing was about how she had to stay positive. Guess you have to do that to some degree to keep getting out of bed and trying, but there is a disconnect between what is going on out here and what is going on on the show.

That said, I still like the show. Just wish it were more realistic.

I'm with Azmon it was the only good show of the week. Mark couldn't get a word in most the time anyway, which I found to be annoying. I was hoping she would help out with the political climate. I guess there is no reason to watch Oprah anymore.

This new season every Oprah show has been good. As for politics, Oprah's having Michael Moore on next week.

Great. I'll have to watch.

There are always two distinct camps on the subject of Oprah:
The people who don't like her because of her politics and
the snoots who don't like the fact that she is encouraging middle America to read good books. One thing they like to do is snidely point out that the books she chooses aren't good literature. Never mind that she has picked Tolstoy and Faulkner.

David Brooks wrote a good editorial about how middle America in the 50's wanted to be cultured and so they bought classical music records and Reader's Digest versions of good books. And the educated people laughed at them and looked down on them. I always think about that editorial when I see Oprah discussed. Particularly her book club.

She probably moved him off the show because she looks so big next to him.

Don't worry about Mark and Kelly.... for those of us who watch Live with Regis & Kelly.... Mark and Kelly own a production company that produces documentaries -- several have already been aired on Lifetime and ESPN television.

I really like the "Friday Live" shows, I just think there could have been a better mix of panelists. Ali Wentworth was, at times, beyond obnoxious and wouldn't let others get a word in edgewise, and Mark didn't offer that much insight (perhaps b/c Ali overtalked him).

The concept, however, was great. Spontaneous discussion about the issues of the day is a fun idea.

The concept was good because it allowed O to discuss current events instead of a certain topic. Ali is funny but there comes a time to turn the shenanigans off at times. Gail is good too but why is she in everything Oprah does? Having a best friend is good but please. She should've mixed up the panel a bit.

I agree, she is the worst - annoying and overrated are two more words I can think of to describe George's wife...

That's too bad. It was the olny good show of the week for Oprah.

True. Oprah seemed jealous of the camaraderie of the rest of the panel. She tried a bit too hard to insert herself in the mix.

I like Mark but he didn't say much. Alexandra Wentworth was entertaining & Gayle is always great.

Noooo Alexandra Wentworth was not entertaining ! She would just talk and talk and talk and not let the others have word. Sometimes Oprah had to interrupt her and direct Questions to the rest of the panel just so they could say something. Gayle on the hand was and is always great. Knows when to talk and when to zip up and let someone else say something.

Its' the same characters. What new can these people bring to the table anyway? She had a talkshow that went belly up. He's a hubby of a talk show host, and the other lady is just Oprahs Lover.

Stick with what got you there Oprah.

Gayle isn't Oprah's lover. You must not know a thing about sisterhood. Gayle was a CT anchor and has her own professional journalism background.

Right. And Gayle has been married how many times? And how many men has this attractive, affluent woman dated seriously? And Oprah has been married how many times? And Stedman has been seen lately how many times? And he has been married how many times? Getting the picture? It's called a closet. And Oprah can afford a very big one with a lock so tight only she can enter it. But if Ellen can come out successfully, I don't see why Oprah can't. Takes courage.
