Seth Masket: Is It a Problem When the Party Decides?
Think about recent examples of state or national party leaders trying to pick nominees before primary voters had a chance to weigh in. Do voters ever push back?
John R. Bohrer: The Time The President Didn't Intervene
In the first year of his first elected term, Lyndon Johnson made the presidency look easy. Landmark bills on education, health care and civil rights were flying through Congress. But he stayed out of New York politics.
Lowell Thompson: Barack Obama, The Token President?
Obama has shown he has the skills of a great politician. But does he have the vision and strength of purpose to become a great leader?

Maybe it's time for Obama to do less asking and instead let underlings work out agreements, so that when he finally does do the asking he gets the answers that he wants to hear.

He is a DEM remember??, now if Palin or McCain said it, now you are talking 500+ replies.
I am so looking forward to the Democratic primary.
I understand Paterson's desire to get back at the president, but this isn't a smart move on his part.
I wonder what precipitated the Obama team's decision to go public with their opinion on Paterson?
Both Paterson, Obama and their teams should just shutup about it.
why? its fun to watch the dems catfight
I can't imagine why1 With the likes of you and the Republicans no one could possibly get anything done. Why not help with the problem instead of being the problem. Your not miffed because your going to lose in the primary are you? Your not liked by the electorate so get used to it.
Oh just be quiet, "Governor" Patterson. You are the last to chastise anybody for not getting anything done. New York State is a mess, and you have been no help whatsoever. Just look at the State Senate. However, Obama has no business injecting himself into the Governor's race here.
obviously
This coming from a guy whose state senate shut down and got nothing done for a month because dems lost state majority by having two dems switch sides... then he basically had to beg them to switch back to regain control... And what has he done for the state? Propose a tax on everything from soda to downloading music...
Article was hardly of "Hits back" quality. Seems to me it's one politician understanding another politician.
Gov. patterson might be the worst choice for governor in NY, but he is right on that one. Obama hasn't done anything because of his bipartisan approach, and catering to the feelings of the GOP.
He hasn't done anything? really? Wow are you living under a rocK?
Paterson did not slam O's bipartisan approach and claims he is catering to the GOP.
