Robert Greenwald, director of the new film Rethink Afghanistan, appeared on "The Ed Show" Wednesday night to make a case against further troop deployments in that country. Greenwald argued against the knee-jerk use of military force and the deadfast belief that violence makes a safer world.
The issue, as Greenwald put it, is about halting Al Qaeda, who are largely absent in Afghanistan, and not about nation-building. Citing Gen. David Petraeus, Greenwald urged progressives to focus on international police cooperation, not unilateral occupation.
