What's Your Reaction?

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told TIME that President Obama should back off on his pressure to force Iran to disclose all its nuclear activity. He said that Obama is making a "mistake" and that Iran has "no secrecy."

Obama, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown opened the Group of 20 summit in Pittsburgh this morning by accusing Iran of having a second, previously secret nuclear facility. Obama said: "The Iranian government must now demonstrate through deeds its peaceful intentions or be held accountable to international standards and international law."

Watch the TIME interview with Ahmadinejad here:

I'd agree that Obama making a fool of himself at the G20 by claiming to have revealed something that had already been disclosed, demanding inspections which had already been granted, and calling his own intelligence information wrong on Iran's nuclear program, was a mistake

Only someone who truly has their head i the sand could think that this looked good for Obama

FUNNY STUFF

ANN CURRY: Are there conditions under which Iran would weaponize?
Ahmadinejad Well, nuc lear arms, we believe, they belong to the past.Today, what brings power to a people is cultural and human power

ANN CURRY: So, may I assume, then, your answer to that question is, “No.”
Ahmad" My response to what question?
ANN CURRY: Is there a condition under which Iran would weaponize?
We don’t need such — we don’t have a such a need....
ANN CURRY: So, the answer is no, sir?
AHMAD: I don’t know what you mean by ‘no’?

Iran is a threat, not just to Israel but to all of us. If any one place gets hit by a nuke, the whole planet will suffer.

Is America stupid enough to spend another Trillion of our Chidrens' dollars to fight a war for Israel?

Why should we sacrifice our treasure and soldiers, the vast majority of whom would be considered inferior by the religious zealots and radical orthodox settlers of ISrael.

Let's see the press never asks, what exactly would happen to the average American family if we or israel bombed Iran. The economy would go in the tank and we'd be on a fast road to bankruptcy. What is our goal in Iran, Iran poses no threat to the US, no matter how they try to portray it as a grave threat.

We all lose if Iran get's bombed, the only winners are the Judeofacist settlers.

I am beginning to like the Iranian president more and more. At least he has the courage of his convictions. I saw the Larry King 2nd interview with Ahmadinejad and Larry tried to cut off the Iranian
President every time he was making a good point. The Iranian elections results were correct but you have the twitter idiot class of Iranian Republican types who did not like the outcome. Hey, anyone notice the same village idiots watch Fox News and Glen Beck and think he is giving a history lesson. These are the outraged tea baggers who hate all the government spending but didn't have much to say when Bush took our national debt from 5.5 trillion to 11 trillion. Now with the democrats in power and financial markets destoryed due to DEREGULATION and WALLSTREET RABID GREED AND OUTRIGHT STEALING UNDER BUSH'S TENURE, we now have these fools talking about Obama's socialism. These are same patriots who sent other people's kids to fight in Iraq when the whole world knew the premise of the war WAS A FRAUD. While 5000 kids died, and 35,000 got injured and familes are shattered, these same Republican fools put out there flag and claim to be patriotic. Well, my patriotism starts with not starting WARS BASED ON LIES. Mr. Obama better wake up with his useless threats to iran, they are not our b*tch....But we are Israels b*tch so we make demands to give Israel cover to bomb Iran.

"These are same patriots who sent other people's kids to fight in Iraq..."

Interesting isn't it. When we do it it's a sorta righteous war, a war for
the good of.... uh, well, uh, it must be good for someone or we wouldn't
be doing it, right?

When Al-Quiada talks a dumb teenager into strapping on a bomb and
blowing up a market place--and himself-- they're TERRORISTS!!!!!

They who?
The teenager?

Open a mess hall, not an AK-47!

So? All of our current and recent presidents are liars to some extent. How does that make Iran a threat to the U.S.? If we would just get out of Iraq they wouldn't even be the minor threat they are to U.S. troops.

Again, how exactly is nuclear Iran a threat to the U.S.? Undesirable and unwelcome, yes. A threat, no.

The world is applying a pressure proportional to Iranian level of belligerence.

If Iran was direct threat the pressure placed on Iran would've been quite different.

Think about it.

He later stated that in order to for Iran to appear to be as crazy as North Korea, Iran would shoot missiles and rockets into the air and prove to the world they could hit water somewhere in the world. The missiles will land in the water, unless they malfunction and hit the land or a tree somewhere. The Iranian leader stated "You shoot a missile in the air, It falls to earth. We know not where."
At that point he wandered off into an existence of not mattering to anyone anymore. We have heard rumors he will soon be joined by several right wing radio word spewers.

Nothing is inevitable except under a President McCain who would have invaded Iran as soon after Nov 4th 2008 as was logistically possible. Thankfully it's not a President McCain's call which means firm negotiations will be significantly more responsibly undertaken. The recent Iranian demonstrations, still fresh and raw over his stolen election, have shown that he cannot automatically assume his once iron hand can continue to maintain control over the citizens should he be so unwise as to not consider the President's words extremely carefully.

I hope this will not be another diversion to the real roots of Middle East instability - the Israeli occupation of Palestine. The creation of a viable Palestinian state and guaranteeing the sovereignty and security of pre-1967 Israel you get rid of extremism (on both sides). Majority of Israelis and Palestinians agree to the two-state solution and making Jerusalem a shared capital. Most of the violence in that part of the world resulted from the creation of the Zionist state of Israel in 1948. Prior to that, before European Jews came in droves to Palestine, the Sabra (Jews that did not leave Palestine at all) and Palestinians were peacefully living together. The extremism took place after 1948. The continued humiliation of Palestinians through Israel's persistence in building settlements and walling Palestinians in as well as harassing them will fuel more extremism and yes, fresh recruits for Al-Qaeda and related organizations. Much as I hate Ahmadinejad for his denial of the Holocaust, his words and actions find resonance among those oppressed by Israel's policies and the US's condonation of them.

"the Sabra (Jews that did not leave Palestine at all) and Palestinians were peacefully living together."

Dea.d wrong. Arab insurgency and intolerance dates to at least to 19th Century. The only reason there was co existance is because Ottoman kep their Arab subjects at a VERY short leash. Too bad Brits didn't.
Study history.

P.S. The term 'Sabra' aplies to native bron Israelis, exclusively. In fact it was a term invented by Israels. This has nothing to do with Jews living in Palestine pre-Israeli independence.

Study history.

It is a highly arrogant suggestion (borne out of total submission to Islamic imperialist perspective) that Middle East somehow belongs to Muslims in general and Arabs in particular. And no one else is entitled to self-determination. WRONG!!!
This is especially cynical in view of the fact that Arabs spread around Middle East because of original Arab imperialism which enslaved much of Middle East, Europe and Asia.

rule of occupancy... the palestinians have more right to be in palestine than Americans do to be in most of the US. It's stolen land, but stolen a long time ago, and it's the physical location of a cultural group.

"The extremism took place after 1948."

No, not true.

"The 1928 Palestine riots (also known as the Western Wall Uprising or the Buraq Uprising) refers to a series of demonstrations and riots in late August 1929 when a long-running dispute between Muslims and Jews over access to the Western Wall in Jerusalem escalated into violence. During the week of riots, at least 116 Arabs and 133 Jews were killed and 339 wounded."

"In Safed 1929, 18 Jews were killed (some sources say twenty) and 80 wounded. The main Jewish street was looted and burned."

"In Hebron, Arab mobs killed 65-68 Jews and wounded 58. The lone British policeman in the town, Raymond Cafferata, was overwhelmed, and the reinforcements he called for did not arrive for 5 hours (leading to bitter recriminations). Hundreds of Jews were saved by their Arab neighbours, who offered them sanctuary from the mob by hiding them in their own houses while others survived by taking refuge in the British police station at Beit Ramon on the outskirts of the city. When the massacre ended, the surviving Jews were forced to leave their homes"

I have a great idea. Why don't we move Israel to the Chihuahuan Desert in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico, and let them treat the drug family there like Hamas and Hezbollah. It's on the Pacific, has a climate just like the Middle East on the Mediterranean and they'll even be closer to the United States so they can crank the tail of Congress. That way, the entire Middle East can go about their business without all the Z-boy agitation and threats to establish a Greater Israel.

Not that I'm defending this goofball, Ahmadinejad, but don't you think the United Nations is to blame for the creation of the State of Israel? For eons it was Palestine, so why did the Jews think they could take over a country and think everything would be fine?

"but don't you think the United Nations is to blame for the creation of the State of Israel?
why did the Jews think they could take over a country and think everything would be fine?"

Jews didn't take any country over -
they were already living there.
Jerusalem, had had a Jewish majority.
The land was split up by the Brits who controlled it

And Britain also carved the country of Jordan from this same land.

The Jews were to get their piece, the Arabs theirs, and Jerusalem was to be an international city where all faiths could have access to their holy places.

The Jews accepted but the Arabs rejected coexistence and opted for war and lost.
But before the cease fire went into effect, Jordan grabbed E Jerusalem where they ethnically cleansed the Jews and destroyed most of the Jewish holy places

"The mandates for Mesopotamia, Syria and Palestine were assigned by the Supreme Court of the League of Nations at its San Remo meeting in April 1920. Negotiations between Great Britain and the United States with regard to the Palestine mandate were successfully concluded in May 1922, and approved by the Council of the League of Nations in July 1922. The mandates for Palestine and Syria came into force simultaneously on September 29, 1922. In this document, the League of Nations recognized the "historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine" and the "grounds for reconstituting their national home in that country."
